I like delves the way they are now. They were never meant to be face-rolled by groups and extremely difficult for solo. I think it should be way harder for a group to complete than to do it alone. Pretty sure thats the intention.

It used to be only 1-2 hours then we could play again but since xpac launched it’s been like 5-6 hours at a time, not sure if they are doing server side stuff or not… but seems likely.

They need to have a grave yard shift on maintenance days and do it during the hours of 12AM - 5AM. Or farm it out to a company in New Delhi that can do it during those hours

They used to do this for major maintenance. There were many times when maintenance started at Midnight to 4am Pacific (Blizzard local). Now they don’t even care.

Overall it’s a big failure on all fronts. Failing to put the needed time and effort in before release to have a fully functional product, failure to know what fixes will be needed, failure to accurately determine the time needed to make those fixes, failure to properly schedule the downtime to make those fixes in a way that least impacts the customer, failure to set proper expectations to avoid blacklash. I might have even missed a few failures on Blizzard’s part there too.

I’m all for fixing problems and maintenance that’s needed for the game we all love but can we do maintenance overnight like around 12am-3am. Instead of right middle of everyone’s day.

Blizzard maintenance is meme worthy. I use the time to get some chores done around the house, then come back to EXTENDED nearly every week since launch.

I’ve been playing since it came out, “Maintenance Day” doesn’t always mean the game is offline for several hours. But all of a sudden it does due to their incompetence. How about you get over it?

I wonder why they can’t apply fixes to another set of servers and do a cutover, or have adequate testing of their fixes before they push to prod.

In the 20 years of the game, was there ever any push or aspirations of the dev team to try to minimize downtime or change their infrastructure in a way for more availability? And “they’re lazy/put yourself in their shoes” is not valid, it’s a job like any other. The IT managers should be focused on things like this as a core responsibility in the first place.

I run a 24/7 diner and find the best time to clean it and fix stuff is during the lunch rush.

Because the game is so old, my guess is that when they fix one thing, two other things break. You ask a great question, though. I don’t know we will ever get the “true” answer, it will all just be speculation.

That only really works when there is a repeat of extended maintenance. Plus, the World First-ers rely on this info, so im sure theyd rather have updated infor every hour, than expecting servers to be up at “12” only to have them come up at “10”.

Instead, people should stop being people, and be a person. Think to yourself, “servers probably wont be up till 12” then when theyre up at 10, youre happy.

Problem with your statement is that we should expect this as a common occurrence, sir and/or ma’am, this is not what used to be a “common occurrence” we at this point should expect the usual 4 hour window of maintenance this deep into the expansion, its been out for a month now. And at this point, Im actually starting to get very annoyed over it. Especially since this extension will lead into another hour of maintenance.

No, I dont want a free day of game time, I just want to play the game in a timely manner.
