I currently main a Druid right now (and I even am trying to decide between KT and NELF). But what do you Alt as? Race/Class wise, I know it doesn’t matter but what made you make an alt compared to your main? Different playstyles? Similar playstyles? Let me know. I’m soul searching in many ways myself (KT vs NELF) and what the heck kind of alt do I want? I appreciate simplicity above all else, so I guess that’s one factor to help narrow it down!
I have no mains and like 50 alts so…
My main main would be my highest ilvl pally tank, my second main main is my healy dragon.
Then I have 3 more tanks, another healer and 5 DPS at 80… and another 20 toons at 70 and then a bunch at random levels.
My main is a monk. Was meant to be a healer, but I switch to DPS for questing and such often enough that I play as DPS a lot more often. Even though I like monk heals.
I haven’t decided on an actual official “alt” yet though I have several contenders. I think it’s a bad sign that I have this many max level alts at this point in the expansion. I had this many at the end of MoP because it lasted soooo long and this many in WoD but in that case they were just mission table gold farmers.
Outlaw rogue was my main. Loved it. Then the changes happened and it wasn’t fun to me any more. Tried sin but…ehh, again didn’t really like it. Also didn’t like trying for 60 minutes to get into M+ groups as a dps so dusted off my disc priest and have been having a ton of fun in gameplay and queue times.
However with the changes in the next patch to disc priest it looks like it’s going to be awful, so I’m dabbling in other healing classes to see what also seems fun for the next patch.
Because of warbands, I now have 3 alts.
One of them is my MM Hunter, Rancos.
My 2nd is my Mechagnome Rogue, Rezbit.
Third is my HM Tauren mommy shammy healer, Rakail.
Rakail likes to zap my Mechagnomes with lightning that way we’re fully powered up.
I just now realized my alts start with the letter R.
I am up to 54 characters. 2 evokers; 5 warriors, hunters, rogues, and warlocks; 4 of everything else. 29 alliance and 25 horde, all level 70 except for 1 monk.
I’ve had as many (maybe more) and deleted as many too. Sadly, this is why I’m trying to slim it (roster) down.
This is the way
My main is a Belf Monk. Main alt is a Zandi Troll Druid. Next is an Earthen Paladin, Mag Orc Warrior, Dracthyr Evoker, Nightborne Rogue, Z Troll Mage, Vulpera DK, Troll Shaman, Dwarf warlock, and a bunch of various race/class combos are level 70 and under
I started with 2 max level druids that I mainly use as tank and healer specs, but I have been using frost mage more and more lately. It’s really fun, imo
Edit: I forgot to talk about race. My frost mage is Blood Elf, which feels kinda boring. If I made him again, I’d probably go night elf or tauren cause they have fun racials
Everything! No seriously… or well almost everything atleast… I don’t have an Earthen (yet)… or an Affliction Warlock, Holy Priest, Assassination Rogue, Windwalker Monk, or Balance Druid… though I will be making them eventually…
Why did I make an alt? Um… why not? I wanted to play everything…
I’m playing like three hunters because why not.
My main will always be my dk. She was my first real “main” when I started playing 15 years ago.
She gets benched every now and then, but she is always my first max level. My loremaster, rep toon.
It’s 1 part nostalgia. 1 part she has all my cool stuff. 1 part dk op.
But I always have a 2nd main. It’s usually quiver here. But then I always have a 3rd, 4th, 5th main I alternate
It’s all about what is fun. I am swapping between quiv, my lock, enhance shaman, and prot paly.
Your main tends to be what you always return to or play the most consistently.
Tbh I go with what looks the best. Humans are super easy because pretty much every single mog in-game looks good on them.
KT can be hard to mog. Nelves, as much as I love them can look wonky too. And they just hold weapons goofy.
So that being said. I’d recommend human OR dracthyr if you are going to roll female. Visage is human female so that makes mog insanely easy and you can fly and glide for racials.
Hey gang.
My main is Elk - Beast Mastery Hunter.
So ranged + mobile playstyle. I play as a human or draenei on most of my characters so it’s a bit of a ‘what I like at the time’ kinda vibe. Currently it’s human.
My alt is Protection Paladin (honestly made to give me my fix for tanking). I find the playstyle is pretty different because I’m leading instead and ensuring I stay alive with the mobs on me. I’ve mostly liked the human and blood elf lore as a paladin.
Every other character is likely made to serve a purpose and not really one I’d care about any further than whatever was on my mind when I made it. Currently I have two others ‘covenant’ characters made to make farming the Shadowlands covenant stuff easier.
Alts are good for professions. It’s hard to get things crafted on a dead server so leveling crafting on alts is pretty important since I like to have alchemy and enchanting on my main. I’ve got a Druid who does nothing but picking herbs and mining ore, and a DH who’s leather working and skinning and a paladin who’s black smithing and jewlcrafting
But there’s no way I’m doing 800 dungeons on an alt to get it caught up to my dk that’s like 630
I managed to settle on 4;
- Warrior (bs+jc)
- Shaman (skin +lw)
- DH (alch + Insc)
- Warlock (tail + Ench).
One for each armor type for transmog collecting purposes + I enjoy their gameplay.
I use other alts for mining/herb farming.
Hello fellow druid main! Only recently have I started getting into my alts, right now warrior has really caught my attention. I like the animations and smashing sounds with different weapons. The plate mogs are also really cool, just overall fun and relaxing gameplay.
Going to try hunter once the new MM update is in, see how it goes from there.
I like Nelf because they look great in MOG, and are one of the OG druid races. Plus lore wise.
Kultiran forms are just freakin awesome, the wicker man lookin forms are too cool and always makes me want to make one. But then i shapeshift out of them and hate myself.
I wouldn’t say I main any specific class as I have at least 1 of each. I just switch what I’m playing if I feel bored or want something different.
