[Main thread] Nvidia 460.xx driver flickering

that is super interesting it has to do with shadows you can get away with fair if you want but as soon as you get to good it starts back

So for me, none of the above fixes have worked…

However, having my Streamlabs OBS open seems to fix the issue for me. Kinda weird, but it’s better than having constant flickering for me.

Anyone know a fix for the stuttering/frame skips? ive disabled all adons/wa and it still happenes, happens with this latest driver

Editing the Nvidia profile fixed my frame drops and the flickering, as of 461.09. I haven’t downloaded the new one, just in case I have to do it again.

Yep, it has been months already with this issue ongoing, and not just on my old GTX 1080, but also on my RTX 3080.

Dropping to DirectX11 is not a solution, nor is reverting pre-Cyberpunk 2077 drivers. That’s not happening. I always have and always will run the the latest drivers for my games, and I play a lot of games–none of my other games have issues, except World of Warcaft Shadowlands.

It is up to Blizzard & NVIDIA to communicate and get this issue resolved, and they have done a terrible job at that. Again, it has been months. Not weeks, months and the issue persists as I write this.

Yes it has been months, and nVidia already posted that it was an issue on their end for WoW…due to Blizzard communicating with them. It is on nVidia to resolve the driver issue since it is their driver afterall.

Using DDU for every time you install a different driver is not “good practice.” Their README says so explicitly:

  • DDU should be used when having a problem uninstalling / installing a driver or when switching GPU brand.
  • DDU should not be used every time you install a new driver unless you know what you are doing.

was this ever fixed? I haven’t updated my drivers in months because of this issue.

Most recent version (461.40) still carrying a “Known Issues” entry about this problem.

I was updating my drivers a couple of days ago, hoping to see an overall improvement, but look what I got dragged into…

Well, at least my graphics card is not dying, so I should be grateful.

If you get a new Windows build from Windows Update it will automatically install the latest NVidia drivers too, meaning you have to CLEAN install the older drivers every time (and lose any settings) which makes this issue even more annoying. Seriously… what is taking them so long?

New hotfix driver out today. No mention of our flickering issue fix in the notes so I’m not even going to bother trying. Sort of tired over the back and forth installs.

Yup. No mention in the hotfix patch notes that they fixed the open bug with WoW.

The bug number for the WoW flickering issue is 3206341.

This fix worked for me. Running 461.40 drivers.

i just switched the in game setting to directx 11 weeks ago as recommended in a blue post in this thread and haven’t had a problem since. have even upgraded my driver since then, still no problem

Seems to have worked for me also :+1: ty

Can we get a bluepost where someone confirms they are working on the issue and intend on fixing this in a reasonable timeframe? It’s been months. The game should come with a seizure warning at this point.

If you scroll up a Blue responded a couple weeks ago saying they are working with NVidia on this issue.

I’m still not sure how a large company with a flagship MMO isn’t getting more traction with NVidia on getting this issue fixed . My only guess is maybe the issue is both the game and video driver and Blizzard and NVidia are playing the Spider-Man pointing game with each other right now.

I reverted to 457.51 and ill stay there till they announce its fixed, I was getting some bad headaches with the flickering since they are amplified when playing on a 49” Ultrawide.

Maybe because Nvidia is more interested in supporting the new and hot (Cyberpunk 2077) and less interested in what they think of as the “old and tired”? WoW is anomaly and I think much of the gaming-related industry is simply waiting for it to fall over and die of old age.

We’ve heard that rhetoric since BC lol, WoW isn’t going anywhere and it’s the top runner for it’s genre.

Hopefully it’s fixed soon, till then I’ll be on 457.51
