How has nobody put this on Twitter or somewhere where everyone knows what’s going on???
No, I’m sorry on your iMac all you have is the built in AMD GPU.
I’m using an eGPU, that is an external AMD graphics card in a box connected via thunderbolt 3. I can unplug it and use my MacBook Pro Intel graphics.
Dude. Forget the specs. Blizzard can’t isolate an entire fan base with an update.
Yes, opening video plays (since I had reinstalled earier), but crashes immediately after video.
I have late 2013 MBP, 11.7.3 Big Sur - which cannot be upgraded to 12.
Dual GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M and integrated Intel Iris Pro.
At least it stared working on my wife’s iMac which still runs some v10 MacOS (cannot upgrade due to change to 64-bit OS which is not available for her work app).
Running Monterey 12.6.3 It’s as updated as it can get. Still Crashing to desktop on my Mac mini but my laptop can run WoW (it’s running Monterey 12.4)
Makes no sense to me…ETA: My MacBook is an old 11-inch!! Can’t see squat on it to play…lol
I am disappointed that Activision Blizzard King (ABK) doesn’t feel the need to have someone work on this issue over the weekend so that ALL Mac players can enjoy playing World of Warcraft (WoW). For some people this is what we look forward to spending some of our weekend doing.
Even before this issue I was already contemplating buying a PC but I now wonder if I should support ABK by playing their games when they quite obviously don’t care about me at all. I have had an active account (yearly subscription) for more than 20 years even when I wasn’t playing all that much because I wanted to support Blizzard to make sure they were there for me in the future, I now see this is a very one sided relationship.
Very disappointing!
I agree with this post 100%. I am actually trying to move away from computer gaming. I started playing TTRPGs again and the experience is different but better in so many ways. I might not have the eye candy, but now I am painting minis again and enjoying the freedom of my imagination. Thank you power and money hungry corporate execs for helping me.
Wow does work on 11.7.2 if i’m using it though a Virtual machine. i’ve done some testing and the performance this way is kinda poor but it runs. so the Api functions on the Vm but not outside. cant be that hard of prob so see when that change happend
MacBook Pro 15 in. Mid 2015
Intel Core i7
Intel Iris Pro
Monterey 12.6.3
I think the thing that annoys me most, besides the feeling they don’t care, is that we will lose a whole week of progress so from this point on I will always think “this is where I would have been last week” for the rest of the time I play this expansion… until we all cap that is.
I can grind out 20+ knowledge points for my profession in a week… and now I will always be a week behind.
It isn’t a matter of how much we pay for the game en masse, it’s a matter of how many and what kinds of resources Activision (ABK, et al) allow Blizzard to allot to Mac related endeavours. There are a lot more folks at Blizzard that are passionate about the macOS platform than just Rommax. It’s simply that he’s essentially the only “developer” that can still even perform macOS related coding, and as noted, when he has time in between all of the Windows clients he also has to service. There is little doubt that Blizzard has others more than willing to aid the cause so to speak, but for lack of management approval way higher up, aren’t allowed to.
It’s a sad, but unfortunately predictable story. The downward spiral was palpable even shortly after the Activision/Blizzard merger back in 2008. The silver lining here is that it took this long to get this bad. But I guarantee you nobody at Blizzard that likes Macs likes what is happening to that platform’s support.
I don’t like Microsoft in general, primarily because of the schism caused by their XInput money grab and them refusing to create at least some form of focus lock now that exclusive fullscreen is dead and buried, but the general consensus is that a Microsoft takeover would at least potentially allow Blizzard to rebuild its macOS support team and provide better support, which is grandly ironic given Microsoft’s own OS competes directly with Apple’s OS.
Looks like i’m able to play now ( running Catalina 10.15.7), but I don’t have an XP bar - Level 60 and I have bought Dragonflight and am in the Dragon Aisles area . Anyone else experience this?
I’m on day #5 of not being able to launch the game. I use a Mac mini from 2018 that was working perfectly before the patch update on Tues 1/24. Before that patch on Tues.m I had an update for my mac system which is now current. Monterey OS 12.6.3. It’s not “older macOS versions”. It’s your update. I’,m retired, disabled with very limited funds. I can’t go out and get a newer Mac mini just because your game will not launch. I WANT GAME TIME PUT BACK INTO MY ACCOUNT. 5 DAYS, THIS IS PATHETIC.
For anyone who missed last night’s update -
They are still working to fix:
AMD GPUs on macOS 11 (some intel too I think. Seems like Iris Pro is problematic)
Intel and AMD GPUs on macOS 12
Everyone else should be fixed.
Continue to post your mac specs if you are having issues.
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB is not problematic on Catalina.
iMac late 2013
Running 10.0.5.47871 Wow Client
Update last night fixed it.
I think Iris Pro issues may be specific to Big Sur.
From what I understand any OS other than Big Sur or Monterrey should be working.
It sounds like you’re describing a different issue than this one. The descriptions of the error in this thread are all pretty clear that the game crashes almost immediately after launch, sometimes a black screen for a bit, sometimes the WoW cursor comes up, but definitely not reaching the character select screen to try logging in, or to try creating a new character. Everyone I’ve seen saying it’s not all on Mac seem to be describing different issues, so best I can tell this particular bug really is Mac specific. I wish y’all the best of luck getting that Windows error fixed as well, but it’s not on topic for this thread.
On my case it used to be a black screen with a cursor then it crashed.
After last night update now It is a black screen with the dragonflight logo but no background image. There is a connecting button and the music plays.
Then it crashes.
Macbook Pro 15” Late 2014
macOS 11.7.3
So I’m on a late 2013 MacBook Pro Retina.
2.3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2 GB Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB
16BG 1600 MHz DDR3
SO, I upgraded via the portal to Ventura (so running 13.2)
NOW, when I launch the game I get the Dragon Flight opening cinematic, THEN the game crashes like before
I never even got that far. Just plays the intro and then crash. dramatic music plays “Blizzard Presents: hrshgkjshgi–crash—shsdfuhsdf”
