Main problem isn't the loot

Yup. With all the people complaining about wf/tf, blizz removed it along with reducing the drop rate so as not to overshadow the raiding community since most people were spamming mythic plus and getting raid equivalent gear. They also ruined world quests and destroyed emissaries since if people worked hard enough they could turn that emissary gear into normal, maybe if lucky heroic raid equivalent gear. The new system is just bad all around. Which is why more and more are dropping away from mythic plus and raids and just doing covenant/ pvp for gear now since its not rng based and any raiding they do is lfr.

We already had guaranteed loot at the end of the week with the m+ weekly chest, but their justification for no more master loot was “personal loot gives more loot per raid”, which is now no longer the case. On top of that they used it as an excuse to remove bonus roll tokens which not only had a chance for more loot, they also let you try to target said loot, which the vault does not.

And then promptly reduced the drop rate of raid gear too.

That’s what I’m saying. They’re doing it again and with the history of it not working you would think they would learn. They don’t obviously.

Bonus rolls also helped with transmog farming. I guarantee after shadowlands no one will come back to farm the raids unless they are extremely bored.

The broken scaling that they refuse to fix won’t help that either.

Maybe it just me, but now the game is all about numbers and not about the world.

All we care is loot, all I do is farm boss that gives me the biggest number increase

Because the game focus is all about elitism and numbers

I think wow needs to take a step back and focus more on the mmo aspect and the world

If not they can rename wow to math of warcraft.

My 2 cents

Yup. I still can’t solo mythic legion two expansions later. If that doesn’t tell people the scaling is busted than I don’t know what will.

It was legion loot system that many people hate so much when legion started after coming out of WoD

It’s already an MMO and one of the best if not the best!

Sitting in my covenant, queuing all day for mythic and raid, doesn’t seem like an mmo

Maybe its me

People brought anyone because raid bosses health didn’t change based on raid size so any dps would be better than 0 dps. But if there were timed dungeon content, I’d bet people would’ve found a way to do the exact same thing they do today

BiS has been a thing since the game started.

I’m fairly certain many loved legions loot system. The only complaints came from the bis people and even then it was minor.

I agree bis need to exist, but it shouldn’t be the only that we want.

Everything is around loot nowadays.

Loot was important back in the day, but maybe that represent 60% of what u wanted.

Now its 99%

Covenant gear + farming BG’s to fill in pieces is the fastest way to gear alts

The only complaints I ever heard about legion loot was the rng legendaries.

Than go out and meet people, join a guild/community, no one is forcing you to sit in your covenant looking for groups all day but you.

What was the other 40%?

Pretty much what I’ve done. I don’t bother with the rng dungeons anymore and if I raid its only lfr now for specific memories.

That’s a problem for pugs, sure. I don’t generally pug. Certainly not my problem. If Classic’s low drop rate was fine, then it would’ve stayed in the game or returned earlier. There’s a reason I’m not playing Classic either.

But I’ll agree that the main problem isn’t the drop rate, it’s that this low drop rate combined with RNG is all that PVE has. It sucks.

My main problem is that I have to be in a covenant with ugly vampires to get a decent combat ability.

Uhg.

For me it is the current design philosphy as to what they want you doing ingame to progress. Its just not fun.

I have tried other games that may not be as polished and you know what? I log in, explore, do dungeons and craft and I get somewhere. I dont also feel obligated to do content on a timed interval for fear of missing out.

Old WoW used to be like this. Now it is multi-layered systems designed to keep you subbed. If it was fun sure, but its definately not for me anymore.

People always say this is how its always been, and now that I am out its blatantly obvious that it has not how its always been in WoW. It started before Shadowlands, but the game is definately not in a place where I will be contining.

The expression boiling a frog is very apt here.
