I have been swiping and thrashing for too long. I chose a Druid when I originally started because I loved the shapeshifting aspect, but the rotation leaves something to be desired (not a fan of feral, too many spinning plates). I am wanting to change my main for the new expansion.
I have narrowed it down to two classes, DK and Paladin. I don’t mind playing any of the specs.
I think blood looks fun for tanking, and either dps is ok. For pally I would probably main Holy and off spec Ret.
The hero talents for both classes seem pretty good so far.
As for class fantasy I’m really torn, both seem excellent, but feel I need to do the class hall quests from legion.
Any advice would help.
Well I will stick to Hunter until the end even tho there is no dev for the Hunter class at the moment. I will be that abandoned child building up his Villain Arc.

Hunter or Paladin for me. DH is a strong alt. And I am eagerly waiting to see how the DK re-works are going to turn out.
If you’re looking to main Holy Pally, have you tried Resto Druid? It’s super fun with the catweaving aspect of it.
Depends on if you want to tank or heal more. I’d say DK if you’re more interested in tanking, nerd Pally otherwise.

Not a fan of weaving, I played resto back in 07. Loved some aspects of it, disliked others. Overall I have not liked the way Druid has gone the last 3 expansions.
Staying an Affliction Lock. The new changes look like a lot of fun.
DK DPS is really clunky pending what they do to fix it in War Within, doesn’t feel good right now. You also don’t have a ton of mobility. DK is my second favorite class, but I don’t feel like it’s in a great spot right now for someone who’s looking to pick it up. Blood is pretty good though, and you’re an absolute unit in solo/open world content too. There’s nothing you can’t solo.
Ret Paladin feels incredible to play. Super fun. Added bonus (for me at least) is that most of the abilities have some range to them, so you’re almost like a hybrid melee/range in some aspects. It’s really unique and feels really good to play. I don’t play Prot Pally so can’t talk on that. But if you want to main Holy, you don’t have that option with DK.

I could go either way with it. If the healing is engaging then sure but if not I won’t.
They say they are slowing down feral so your energy regen is more meaningful. Check the update notes in the Alpha forum. Will probably work for a while until people overload haste.
If you still don’t want to do Druid, I like Paladin the second most. Can still do all three roles if you want.
The mobility doesn’t bother me too much. With changes in the talent tree, hero talents I don’t think DK will suffer for mobility.
Though I am interested in what you find “clunky” in the rotation? DnD bound cleave? Something else?
I’m between 4 classes. Druid, rogue, lock, pally. I enjoy them all. Probably take druid to cap first though, it’s WAY too flexible not to.
You and me both. Maybe we’ll make a sort of duo or council of hunter villains? Could be fun.
Some demon hunter or mage might come in and kill us all, but that’s ok. We had our evil-villain musical number that will go down in history while THEY get NOTHING memorable.

I would go ahead and level both right now in the downtime if you haven’t already. We don’t really know how they’re going to fare dps/healing wise but both look really good. Blood is a very self-sufficient tank, and usually does well at the beginning of expansions. Ret looks insane with all the aoe damage they are getting.
Rider of the apocalypse gives a ton of outdoor mobility to unholy and frost(not blood misspoke) next expansion. Mounted combat outside seems pretty insane for things like bgs.

Almost everything about Breath
Resource flooding (I often find myself having too much runes/runic power during the CD window, and not enough outside of the window)
Too many CD’s compared to baseline rotational abilities
Just to name a few. I’m not a pro DK by any stretch, so maybe someone better than me won’t have as many issues, but just a few of my observations when comparing the class now to how it used to play.

I wish blood was getting rider would be so great.
Haven’t experienced that yet, but it’s good (and high time) that they’re addressing it. Looking forward to trying it.
Yeah, I made a mistake and said blood. It’s actually for the two dps frost and unholy.
Course it only works where mounting is allowed so anything indoors and you lose it.
In a recent blue post they talked about resource flooding during breath and famine outside of it. One of the things they are wanting to address this expansion.
I hope they address the DnD problem. One of the things from riders of the apocalypse is that Morgraine summons DnD and it moves with him. If players had that would be a start.
