Anyone else have the mail icon at the character selection screen only to log into said toon and discover you have zilch? lol.

I haven’t had an issue, but I think others have expressed similar. Some said it may be addon related.

I had one day where at the selection screen, I think two toons had the mail icon.
I logged into one toon without the icon, did a couple things, never touched a mailbox, and logged out.
When I went back to the character selection screen, all of a sudden nearly every toon had the mail icon next to them. And these are basically just alts for professions, so it’s not like they get any mail from anyone else other than myself on one of my alts.
I have no idea what is going on with that system, but right now, I’m just ignoring the icon since it doesn’t seem to be consistently reliable, at least for me.

Yes, I’ve had this happen semi-frequently. I also still get the occational mailbox bug where I can’t actually interact with the mailbox unless I log out/in.

I’ve seen others post about this bug.
I personally almost never see the mail icon on my character select screen, even though I literally just mailed something to an alt before I logged out

I haven’t noticed it on the log in screen. But I have noticed since the last patch that I get the mail notification icon on m min-map. It says it’s from the auction house, but if I check my mail I don’t have anything.

I’ve had it happen to me a couple times. Usually on the toons I use to play the AH.

This has been happening to me since 9.1.5 released. I will log on, open the Auction House mail, and after a little while the in-game mail icon will pop up again but no mail is there. Then, when I log out, the mail icon shows for that character in the selection screen.
ya I have had and heard other people in my guild having issues with the character select screen and the in game mini map icon saying they have mail from the Auction House. The few times I have experienced this it has been some time after I bought or sold something on the AH and already retrieved my mail. Usually it is a few hours after I grabbed said mail.
I’ve had the reverse of that … no icon … but logged into mail
for me the mail icon works best when it’s mail from between my own characters. other sources of mail, especially from the postmaster or the monthly brewfest, don’t put a ygm icon on the character select screen.
Not yet, but I do get the bug where the mail icon on the minimap won’t go away and says I have mail from the auction house when I don’t. Oh, and I also get the bug where the mailbox won’t work so I have to ridiculously summon Katy Stampwhistle right next to it to get my mail. Now, if I could just get your bug too I’d have the full set.

It’s a mailbox virus, don’t open it lol. Goblin, and gnome phishing scam 
but yeah same thing yesterday for me. The mailbox in Oribos would not even open on screen. Or couldn’t interact with it.
Experienced this problem today on a couple characters. Character selection screen shows they have mail. Log into them and mail icon near minimap says they have mail from the Auction House. Open mail and nothing there. Minimap icon goes away.
The bug I’ve been experiencing is the game telling me I have mail in game via the icon when I don’t actually have any mail. I’ll see the icon and check my mail. There will be nothing in it, so I’ll reload my UI and check again, with nothing in it again.
I haven’t had it occur on the character select screen though, just in game.
edit: it might have occurred during the character select screen, and I just haven’t noticed it yet. I never really pay attention until I’m in the game.
Yep, this is happening a lot and it’s very very annoying. It’s also happening to me in game too, not just on the login screen. Mail icon is there, no mail.

People that have this issue should list what addons they use so we can see if one of these things is not like the other, one of these addons is doing it’s own thing.
I’ve been getting this bug on my characters for about over a week now. I just got it again.
It’s really frustrating! FIX YOUR BUGS!
I’ve seen it a few times, just logging in and checking the box cleared it, but man, getting catfished by my mailman feels pretty dirty.
I have the mail icon, check nothing is there wait two minutes check again there it is issue.
