Obviously I wear Mail armor… what happens when I equip leather? What are the penalties?

Having every slot filled with your intended armor type gives you a 5% boost to your primary stat.

5% main stat loss. Bad juju.
As the others said, lose your 5% bonus to your main attribute. Not gamebreaking while you’re still gearing up but should be addressed before you plan on getting into srs bsns content.
Also you cant transmog it.

this is legit the most important thing
used to be able to transmog your non intended armour type back in mop, but then they went a removed that >:(

Yeah. I did that in WoD. Used a crafted helm made if leather to transmog a hood

Thanks all… and at what ilvl will that really start playing a factor at 60 (just turned 60)? Asking because I just got an incredible leather belt that’s like 50 ilvls above any of my other slots heh
50 ilvls would probably be a bigger boost. Worth checking out ilvl 200 gear from the AH. It isnt too expensive
