That’s probably what happened, they made the plate legs and then got completely faded when they made the mail legs.
Oh, they buffed the set pieces. Originally it provided less RAP than the BFD set for hunters so that’s why it got buffed probably.
Then do it.

Stats don’t scale linearly and can be devalued for various purposes. Also plate tends to come with slightly weaker stats because… its plate.
Also tokens. You won’t be competing with anyone other than people that want the chest token (literally everyone) and you can pick whichever chest piece you like. No one cares. This is Vanilla gearing.
Because as it is its itemized like an epic 10 levels higher than the other sets available from the same content.
You’ve proven you aren’t interested in listening to anyone, you just want to whine for the sake of whining. Pointless thread
This is just factually not true. There are outliers in all directions to be fair, but armor type has never been a contributing factor toward item budget, or at least not since the design of level 60 gear in vanilla. This also was not a factor in Mail vs Leather in BFD, which should hold the same logic.
That is actually not confirmed as far as I know. Warriors may be limited to the plate choice.
Plenty of people care, myself included. If you do not care, that is fine.
Theres nothing to “listen to”. Its Beast Mastery Scorpid Sting levels of overbudget. The spread of stats itself is fine. It can keep str/int/stam/agi/ap. It just needs a few points less of each. The AP especially is WAY overblown. Look at the Black Dragonscale pieces for a comparison buddy.
No one is defending it. We are trying to explain to you why mail gear is overloaded with stats. They are attempting to bandaid fix underlying problems with the class brute force via raw stats.
I already said it’s a bad solution, but that’s the solution they seem to be going with
It’s great that the leather option has the least Agility, thanks blizz!
It is in Vanilla, especially while we still level.
I would find it very funny and odd if the turn-in’s were so limited, but that is perhaps something that will happen. Also note that these sets are being tuned with class/specs in mind, not just generically good. That could mean they recognize that melee mail users need a lot more love than Warriors and Ret Paladins to amp up their stats and make them more competitive.
/shrug
This is not true. Agi is preferred by melee hunters as it gives melee AP and RAP. The most effective way to play is 100% going to be stepping out to shoot when raptor strike is on CD, the inverse of melee weaving, meaning you will want to stack up as much agility as possible. Strength as a consequence of this itemization is… fine, but it’s not wanted or preferred, ever.
That’s why I worded that sentence the way I worded it. “utilize”
We can utilize it, but people are going to be picking leather pieces for the reason I stated which is really lame on Blizzard’s part.
Enhance and Hunters should get their own set. How hard is that?
I think I’ve figured out the issue. Someone made a typo, and the mail pants are actually supposed to have an item level of 58.
What’s wild is that despite everyone pointing a finger at this gear like it’s over powered, and yet…
There’s no spell power on this gear. Shaman also have abilities that scale with spell power, not just attack power. Our spells crit with spell crit, not melee crit. Even with all these good stats on the gear…
It’s actually not good enough.
You’ll still wear it, but without spell power your shocks, lightning spells, totems, healing spells, etc. will hit exactly the same values with this gear on as it will completely naked. Take it all off, exact same power.
Still needs to be buffed more, and any of you saying otherwise don’t know how these hybrid classes scale at all.
Yes. Enhance should get their own set with some spellpower. And Hunters should get their own set with more agility and no strength, like God intended.
As if stands, hunters will be using leather in PvE.
And enhance will probably be using cloth or the any mail items with str+sp. It’s going to be a clown show. They did enhance dirty, and hunters ended up catching a stray bullet on their set as a result.
Does “MS > OS” also include armor proficiencies?
I am not sure why I am wasting my time to argue this, since you are just blindly stating something false. But again, it is not true. The easiest example to point out is green items “of the XXXX.” Captain’s Breastplate of the Monkey. Mail Chest, ilvl 44, 11-12 agi, 11-12 stam. Field Plate Armor of the Monkey. Plate Chest, ilvl 44 11-12 agi, 11-12 stam.
Again, there are outliers, but at a base level, what you are trying to claim is wrong.
No. The lack of spellpower on gear is intentional. Same as it is for gear itemized for Ret. Id bet money Mental Quickness is going to be a rune, same as Sheath of Light.
