Five of my characters had a mail icon in character list. I logged in with one, retrieved my mail, put some items in warbank, relisted two items in AH and sent an item to another character. Then logged out. Now, only the character who was sent mail shows the mail icon.

Are they on separate realms / did you change servers when you swapped toons?
The mail icon will only show for characters whose realm you’re on.
They are all on the same realm.
