The mail icon for the character select screen that was going to come out with shadowlands is here! it’s nice, and I’m a fan. I’m also a huge fan of being able to send anima to alts at a 1:1 ratio. Thanks blizz

Hope it actually stays around this time, instead of vanishing without a word.
It isn’t 100%.
Definitely logged onto a toon with no mail icon, but mail in the game.
Not sure if the icon is for expiring mail only, or just a bug.
I bet it didn’t apply to mail that was received before the patch was applied. We’ll see if it’s that as time goes on.

I had mail about to expire on another toon and it showed the icon for them.
There is definitely a bug there somewhere.
In fact most of my mail was prior to the patch (AH stuff from last night).

The mail icon on the character screen is much appreciated. But it’s kinda useless in it’s current state. It’s not consistent because it doesn’t show for all characters with mail. I’ve got it on about 5 characters showing (by tooltip) something about unread mail from the AH. But I know for a fact I have unread mail from the AH on at least three other toons. Not to mention other unread mail unrelated to the AH.
Blizzard: the mail icon is a great idea. But it has to work for every toon. If it doesn’t then players can’t trust it so it’s useless. A couple ideas to improve it (beyond the obvious - making it show up all the time).

Colour code it based on expiry. If the character has mail that’s due to expire in the next short time eg: 48 hours then make the icon red (or stand out some other way).

More useful info on the tooltip. Maybe a “soonest expiring” date so we could see that mail is due to expire in a week. And “total mails” which is pretty obvious - the number of mail in that toons mailbox.

That mail icon if not bugged would of been a great help for a gold maker like me.
Interestingly, after this session (which started off with a mix of inaccurate mail icons) they all appear to be right now. Will see if they stay that way once auctions start selling/expiring.
Definitely buggy.
Sometimes the icon is there but no mail. It makes me wonder if it flags sometimes when an auction is sold, but is still in the 1 hr cool-down before the gold pops in the mail.
Haha there’s actually a huge issue going on with mail right now. I think it’s only affecting some players, but I’m one of them. My main cannot receive any gold right now via mail (so, auction house sales.) And they confirmed with me that there is an ongoing issue with it and linked me a glitch article thing that was created the night of 9.1.5…
so who knows, it may go by bye if this is associated and they cant figure it out.
