Is there any caster that is possible to face as a mage?
I feel every caster in this game counter mages easy.
I find a good mage can defecate on most other casters. They are bursty and mobile. They can LOS my longer casts while I have to be in the open and hard cast.

Any class can counter mages easily, all they have to do is wait out Alter Time or dispel it. Mage burst is not enough to burn other classes before they can destroy us in 1v1 scenarios without it. Mage mobility is great but running away doesn’t help you win, lol.

It was actually a lot more balanced 20 years ago than it is now. I enjoyed a little PvP on the side and participated in it back in the Vanilla days. It’s largely been a downhill slide since then though, hence why it’s now the least popular game mode.
Havent had enough 1v1 play vs evokers/boomkins so the jury is out on those. As far as shadow priests/ele shams go, they nuke mages. Locks are the only ones i can have a good battle with where it doesnt seem one sided. Shadow is by far the ultimate mage killer though. Lucky if you can even get them to 50% before you’re toast. But this has been the case for a while now. People just want to argue the game isnt meant to be 1v1, but they arent playing a class that loses to almost everything lol.
Priest should win against mage every single time, warlock should as well.
Mage doesn’t feel like a great 1v1 class anymore.
At least with last expansion I could outrange a lock or spriest with the talent that added 15 yard range while in combat. Now I just get purged and melted.
Mage is just OK now. Strongly considering putting down the game. Just bored.
