Does anyone know how to cast Displacement in a macro?
Why I try, I get an error “Spell not learned”.

what macro you tryna make bud
i can test it on my end and see what the issue is
A very simple macro:
/stopcasting
/cast Displacement
After I shimmer, the macro button doesn’t light up. When I press it, it says, “Spell not learned”.
i just tested it and it worked for me but i used Blink, let me see if Shimmer is different
I am getting the same error after using Shimmer
Thanks for helping out.
I don’t know if it makes a difference, but I’m also frost spec.
Edit: Yeah, the macro works with normal Blink. Not Shimmer. So weird.
it shouldn’t as i’m in Frost as well and when i just press Displacement outside of the macro it works fine
it seems like there is a bug- i would open a bug report
have u tried the spell id with macro?
I don’t think you can cast via spell ID. Maybe if you script some sort of secure button?
I’m actually just trying to keybind Displacement in the Clique addon. I realized something might be broken when I was getting trained in RSS.
you can’t /cast [known: spell ID] or something?
You can do /cast [known:spell ID], but you have to say /cast [known:spell ID] spell name.
When the spell’s name is Displacement, it doesn’t work with Shimmer talented.
I heard, iirc, that this is due to impetus or whatever option mages get to blink in the direction they’re moving instead of facing.
Turning it off should fix it if this isn’t a fever dream I had
i actually have never taken that and it still gave me the error
but i could see how that would cause issues
sounds like it’s just bugged all around
Thanks for the suggestion.
I turned off Arcane Momentum at a mage trainer. Unfortunately, the macro bug is still there.
try using /use syntax instead of /cast
ran into similar issues on my uhdk because apocalypse is both the spell and if you still have the artifact weapon, it tries to equip it if it’s anywhere on your character (including the bank)
you may also need to put stopcasting before and after because of wonky macro mechanics
Unfortunately, that didn’t work either.
might need to just bind stopcasting until it’s fixed
Yeah. I was actually just trying to keybind Displacement in Clique. I think that addon uses some sort of temporary macros for its keybinds.
I stumbled across the macro issue when I was trying to figure out why Displacement wasn’t working with Clique (including plain Displacement without stopcasting).
If anyone sees this thread in the future and wonders what might be happening because the bug still isn’t fixed:
