Mages Can't Cast Displacement via Macro when using Shimmer

Years have passed and this still isn’t fixed…

Oh my god this is for real lol? More than two years since this bug has been posted numerous times and Blizzard hasn’t even commented on it. Indie company confirmed.

Just had this issue start today. How is this not fixed. <.>

I was using this alter time macro just fine and suddenly the icon is only the revert back version and says spell not learned.

#showtooltip Alter Time
/cast [nocombat] Alter Time
/castsequence [combat]reset=1 Alter Time, null, null

I can use the alter time button from the spell book but the macro no longer works.

I haven’t played mage much, but I was able to replicate this a while ago back on remix by entering an instance while alter time was active. Don’t know of other ways to brick the macro, so not sure what else to avoid. Only way to fix it is logging out.

Thanks, I’ll try to avoid this. I logged out briefly but that didn’t help. However, logging in today after being logged off overnight resulted in it working. So weird.

Still not working in 11.0.5

Why is BFA Displacement still even in the game files?

Still not working in a macro as of 10-31-2024!!

C’mon guys… REALLY?

Still bugged, same issue but with Avatar on prot warrior as of 10/31

I have this problem with multiple spells/skills. They work normally but not in a macro. When cast in a macro, they give error “Spell Not Learned”:

  1. Mage: Displacement (cast Blink/Shimmer, then try to cast Displacement macro)
  2. Paladin: Judgement (Holy). Judgement (Prot) and Judgement (Ret) both work normally, but Judgement in Holy sometimes give this error.
  3. Paladin: Lay On Hands. (fixed by selecting the talent “Empyreal Ward”)
  4. Warlock (Diabolist): Infernal Bolt. Diabolist causes Incinerate to sometimes change into Infernal Bolt. But when it does, I can’t cast it from a macro, gives above error. Can drag Incinerate from spellbook to action bar and it works fine when converting to Infernal Bolt.

You can fix this one by macro casting shadow bolt, as both incinerate and infernal bolt are overrides to shadow bolt.

That worked, thanks!

This is still an issue as of 12/14/2024. Blizzard’s refusal to even acknowledge this as a problem in the two years it’s existed is unprofessional and unacceptable. The ability for mages to macro blink and displacement as a cast sequence is a very likely use case, making this defect a higher priority than Blizzard might think (priority not to be confused with severity). The fact that an end user has to tell them how to do their jobs is an embarrassment to their image as a company.

Had no idea this issue was wider-spread. Hopefully we’ll get a fix this year!

Yoooo this has only been an issue for THREE years now? What in Capitalism’s name is going on with them?

Still broken 9/25

This is still broken… can’t use Displacement in a macro.

It’s because Blizzard are pathological liars and hypocrits.
When players can’t do something that they should be able to (achievements, gameplay, etc.) Blizzard releases a store transmog set.
When players can do something (Timerunner in normal raids) they are able to do because WoW has no QA, Blizzard bans people and deletes mage tower skins.
