Mages are really bad

Look, I’m not here to say mages need to be top tier or anything. Mage dps in BFD is so low that other classes are doing as much as three times our dps. I completely understand the AE nerf to healing, but it kind of feels like mages were only relevant due to an abuse of game mechanics and now they are completely sunk. Everyone is a low level. I get it. But why play a mage besides aoe farming right now?

Hunter pet is outdpsing any mage spec. But hey, we will “get better” according some copiums here.

Seems like you answered your own question - those who want to farm gold still have it as an option to be set for later.

In the entire 20 year history of WoW, mages have never been underpowered or neglected for any patch at any point.

They will be fine once the game fleshes out more.

Game is out for less than a week …

Blizz says there will be more content and 25 is just the start …

Queue multiple forum threads complaining about classes being “bad”.

How bout wait and see what happens? We’re literally capped at 25 … not sure what you really expect …

Mage friends already have like 200g each from doing it so use the gold to fluff up an alt hard. I have like 12g on my non mage main lol

This is a pretty silly response. A class exists in the game to aoe farm (which was significantly nerfed as well mind you). Is that really a good thing? Like previously states above, a pet can do more damage. That’s not just bottom tier, that’s like not even existing. The runes given to mages made no sense at all. Ice lance at lvl 2 and you don’t get frost nova until 10? Icy veins sharing a slot with the only ability doing any damage (with a 1 minute cd)? Just saying “it’ll get better” isn’t logical because you have zero idea of where SoD is going from here.

None of us do. But in the entire history of WoW, mages have been A-Tier or better in all aspects of the game at once - questing, farming, PvE, and PvP.

It’s the one class that Blizzard always takes 100% seriously. And sure, we don’t know where things go from here. But if they go poorly for mages, it would be the first time it’s ever happened. That’s why I’m so optimistic.

This kind of reply always baffles me. “The game hasn’t been out long so stop leaving feedback on things you think should change.”

No, I don’t care about your potential semantical argument that separates ‘complaining’ from ‘feedback.’ Your approach is wrong; this feedback needs to be stated now so that they can act upon it, or tell mages to get good.

It’s in the dev’s court, but players need to at the very least tell them what’s going on.

Which was a design choice by Blizz, a bad one at that. Shows that they don’t even understand their own game. I personally think it was just easier this way, gives them time to finish the rest of SoD as it was clearly a last minute after thought due to immense community demand for Classic+.

mages getting ice lance and fingers of frost at low levels when they’re useless without talents, and mage aoe healing being blatantly overpowered before nerfs… it kind of suggests that they have no idea what the hell they’re doing. Which i suppose is in line with classic design, but still.

Mage healing is F tier outside of pre-nerf AE and living flame because it’s balanced around temporal beacon potentially being up on many targets at once in a raid. It’s the same reason atonement design suffered outside of raids for years.

Although there’s also things like spell pushback that they just didn’t bother to do anything about for AB and Regen/MR especially.

Yep. Low level mages are atrocius
No mana sustsining

Welp, I casted my 3 heals on someone, for a total of 500-600 healing, and now am OOM. Please kill me now horde so I can res and get my mana back.

A major oversight is that they gave everyone more survival, more self-healing and regens, but mage mana efficiency is still crap and can’t deal with it.

Same, all the communication from blizzard about SoD before release was made to sound like they want feedback and this is a testing ground. Obviously a bit more of a testing ground than most realized, myself included. Would have waited another month for some more polish/internal testing.

Unless you can predict the future … take a seat.

I’m willing to bet mages (and warriors) will be right back at the top as we progress further into the game.

Having an expectation for them to be top tier at level 25 is asinine. The game has just started and this is not “feedback” as we don’t even know what is yet to come.

Make Spell power stronger at lower level

Any reaction to content is feedback. That’s literally the definition of feedback. Even saying I hate this is feedback.

Telling me to take a seat if I can’t do something that’s impossible is not an actual response to anything.

Wait, did you ask me that because you can see the future?

Why is it asinine? How is this not feedback? Doesn’t the lack of a beta mean they need feedback that would normally be in the beta?

You talk a lot for someone who has nothing to say. Telling me to take a seat when you’re the one already sitting is what’s asinine.

Google what a metaphor is.

Read the first segment of what you quoted and you’ll have your answer.

I’ll concede in it technically being “feedback”; however, I’ll also point out the point of my statement in how the game mode has LITERALLY just started and y’all are raising hell and throwing tables over. It’s ridiculous and comical.

You think I don’t know what “take a seat” means? You think calling it a metaphor is a defense? The meaning came across either way.

So you’ll concede the primary point of my argument and still tell me to take a seat, but that’s fine because it’s a metaphor? …ok.

Anyways, let’s look at the original post and see how ridiculously comical his table throwing is:

Yeah this guy is unhinged. I bet he destroyed 10 tables.

Anyways, nothing more to be said here…I’m out.
