So I am playing my evoker, augmentation spec (Not that it matters).
We get a spell/ability called “Rescue” which acts similarly to the priests “Leap of Faith”.
I was in Botanica with my wife, doing some Time Walking. The tank rushed in, pulled too much, we all died. I was running back, the Mage was just in front of me, so I used the “Rescue” ability and carried the mage the short distance ahead to help us catch up a bit.
Right after that, the mage yelled “CONSENT!” in party chat. I and my wife “lol’d” because we thought they were trying to be funny. Apparently we were wrong. They were being serious and tried to vote-kick me out of the party, and another party member made a comment about “Keeping my hands to myself”.
Im sorry but this is the most rediculous thing I have ever witnessed in my near twenty years of playing this game.
Firstly, I wasnt doing it to troll or be malicious I was just helping us catch up to the rest of the party.
Secondly, I dont need ANYONE’s consent to use a spell on MY bar thats part of MY class.
Thirdly, characters are not representative of any living being and are completely fictional in existence and nature, so, consent doesnt even play into it, at all.
While I do think the situation was a bit of an overreaction, you can technically do what you want with your own things as long as it doesn’t impact someone else. You are free to walk around on public property, but you aren’t free to do it on mine without my consent.
Again, the situation was silly, but I’m so tired of this take on it. You aren’t free to do anything you want if it impacts other people.
I think Blizz should just do what D&D does now. Have everyone before a raid/dungeon meet and discuss what is and is not “triggering” for players. And if something comes up that is “triggering” they can press the “X Button” to indicate they need a pause in gameplay.
If you’re flagged, you’ve consented into the PvP system by the act of flagging.
And yes, this is totally a game, but you can still be reported for harassment. I’m not saying the single act of rescue counts as that, but there are things you cannot do to other people in game without being punished.
Then they need to remove the spell, as well as any other healing spells that effect others, dispells etc such as the swat blaster as they impact others. And -I- am tired of peoples take such as yours when people just use the spells as they are intended to be.
You know the swap blaster and priest grip actually caused blizzard to add an in game item to block those effects because people were abusing them right? The Neural Silencer. I don’t know if it works on rescue.
But no, your freedom to do anything you want ends the minute you start impacting other people negatively, at least in serious ways. That’s how it works. I’m sorry if you don’t like that.
im sure you can always use Neural Silencer if you dont like being pulled and you see it as its a huge problem for you,
I mean its only 100g per 12h
Sounds good
Idk fighting on the road in pvp is pretty fun sometimes and it’s definitely detrimental to your team. People have plenty of “freedoms” to be bad and affect others negatively in this game without getting banned imo
Sure. And I did say that in this case I don’t think you did anything wrong. I was just stating that the “my freedoms” argument doesn’t stretch as far as people would like to believe.
