depends on spec, skill, gear, and resist rng.
a lock with proper spec and felhunter management will beat most mages. if lock loses, he will not have a pet and get camped unless he has invis pot. a geared+skilled mage will delete average warlocks.
Depends on the skill of the player.
SL lock doesn’t lose to much in a 1v1 if played well.
Mage can definitely win but I feel there are more opportunities for the mage to lose.
If you’re a mage and you lose a 1v1, it’s generally your fault. Same applies to warlock, I think.
Whoever is a 300 engineer and has the proper reflector trinket.
Warlock is hands down the most broken class in the game over all, but as said above it comes down to skill.
While it always comes down to the skill of the individual, Warlocks tend to have the edge in this matchup, especially if they have their felhound out.
If the lock is SL spec, the mage doesn’t have much chance baring a pretty big screw up.
While the SL spec is strong they aren’t exactly going to burst you down either. It’s more of an AB flag defense or duel outside Ironforge/Orgrimmar type build so useless in most content.
Warlock. Easily. Mage is at a severe disadvantage.
In my PVP spec, I can just wand mages to death while my pet kills them and still win.
right now with all the spell pent, you would lose over and over to a iceblock/fire mage
Watch cdl replays.
Mage performs better overall since update
If the gear is approximately at the same level then generally warlock, although spec of each, race, and the pet out matters quite a bit.
the lock, what am i gonna do sheep em back to full HP while I’m fear all over ticking down to death?
you can easily global an average warlock, most classic players are keyboard turning backpeddlers with under 4k health. some of them might find their win coil, and things might get a little exciting for a bit, but they can throw really easily after that.
the top 15% though should be fairly rough to impossible-rng dependant.
It really depends on the situation. Out in the world in a random unexpected pvp encounter while farming? Whoever initiates the pvp is likely to win. In this situation you usually catch the other person off-guard giving you an advantage. I know typically when out farming shards or cloth I tend to have my blueberry out instead of the felhunter, just because I like to let him tank stuff a little better. Giving the mage the upper hand if I get surprised by one.
In a duel outside a capital city where you can have everything prepared prior to the fight? Most likely the lock unless he royally screws up.
In a BG? More often than not the lock, but a 1v1 is usually on the rare side in a BG.
Warlock will destroy mage.
zip it, and you are wroooooooong
Hey now, some of us are tab-DoTters!
Just do what most horde do, use will of the forsaken to get out of the fear. Unless you’re alliance, then you’re in trouble.
