Mage vs warlock

1800 is placement MMR - these are the lobbies full of new players who have no idea what to do.

Maybe the lock was an alt and was farming. Equally skilled players would destroy the aff in most rounds

In today’s wow carter’s in cloth have the defense of player’s wearing plate in classic wow and wearing plate in modern wow is like having nothing equipped.

My favorite is seeing the lock on my team put port and gate down and then running to the other side of the map and using neither.

I mean there’s not many specs that do heavy physical damage.

Since about 60% of all the dps are doing magical damage now. But yet thats the developers fault on that end. What warrior/hunter/combat rogue I think and some bleeds (I don’t even think any of the bleeds get affected by physical damage reduction anymore).

That’s pretty much it. Everything else is doing straight magical or some weird hybrid damage like rets who I’m not even sure if holy strike is considered to be reduced by physical damage reduction.

Maybe they should bring back elemental/magical type resistances.

If not bringing back elemental resistances maybe have them be baked into the versatility stat because lets be honest it’s some real bs that my Spriest can take a beating from better than my warrior.

Not addressing so much mage vs lock here but this note:

Playing mage in rss near ruined mage for me. Don’t do it- a much better version of pugging no voice arenas on mage is 2v2 ladder with: rogue or spriest, even destro, feral, ret. You can climb up and get good games against solid players on their healer/x team.

Like others have said in this thread, mage kit is insane. It just doesn’t translate to fun in rss. It is full setup playstyle and not m+, which lock can do, even if it is challenging to pull off.

I’ve never played lock so I can’t really cast a judgement on the comparison. I can tell you I’ve played thousands of rss games at duelist and see 10x as many locks as I do mages. I don’t think that means lock is necessarily that strong in rss, tho. I think it means other players are finding mage equally frustrating in that arena mode.

If you want to play a caster dps in rss, I highly recommend elemental shaman, honorable mention for shadow priest.

100% agree. My 2s partner was telling me how OP mages were in SS (I’ve done 30 rounds). I linked him my reflex- had 1 match of the 30 that had another mage in it.

I did notice there were tons of them around 1900 when grinding my dh for the transmog. No real interest in queing another SS on the mage again.

Not sure I agree on twos though, dont see many mages there either and that’s the bracket I like to play.

Ya I’m pulling mostly from memory of DF, when it was just terrible to play mage in rss (other than when fire first got glass cannon, pre-nerfs).

I think maybe current frost cleave build does comparatively decent in the M+ rss games? But people have already developed playing other specs in rss.

People used to enjoy playing double dps 2s in a sort of ‘for the thrill of it’ way- taking games from high xp hunt/rdruid as rogue/mage was very much that. And if you hadn’t capped conq/vault that week, it was probably the best pug option- your other choices being rated bgs or trying to find no voice 3s as a dps in lfg.

Now that those caps are gone, I imagine it’s a lot more rare, but still out there.
