Was in gnomergann yesterday and with an excellent group of 30+ players (warrior dps , paladin tank , druid healer , mage dps and paladin ret dps)
everyone works together in light hearted manned , basically the run when smoothlu until halfway the mage start meleeing the mob that definitely slows down the group as we lost dps.
we still clear gnomer albeit a little slower due to mage roleplaying some kind of warrior mage thing.
no one rebuke the mage to knock it off
just curious do you ever got this kind of problem ?
No. Never had a problem that I or the party couldn’t agree to kick.

Why didn’t you say anything to him? You could have put it nicely if you’re afraid of recourse. People won’t improve if no one explains that they are doing something wrong.
I remember that toward the end of that dungeon there are spell reflecting mobs, that could explain the staff beatdown, but the spell reflect only lasts a few seconds.

he is full mana and just not doing dps but playing around with his 2h staff meleeing mobs…
Maybe he was trying to level it when he realized the group was more than capable of 4 manning it.

i said why you use staff to melee it is useless for mage , and he said he want to roleplay warrior mage

Sounds exactly like the effort it takes a warrior in a dungeon, except they charge for it so I don’t see the problem tbh

Casters melee’ing in instances is actually pretty common, especially when the group is comfortably handling it.
It’s usually more in spurts though, like waiting for mana so people do it for fun. Myself included.
I have never seen anyone actually do it for an entire instance.
And no harm people having a bit of fun of it doesn’t overly inconvenience everyone else. As a tank I wouldn’t mind it.
And think about how long it would take to replace this mage without LFG function? Lol
More importantly, did this mage give everyone food and water? If so, the mage earned the privilege of playing a warrior mage, whatever that is.

I use a staff to hit things sometimes so why can’t a mage? They can use swords, after all, puny as their noodle arms may be.
There’s something inexplicably satisfying about whacking someone in the face with a staff.

Sounds funny I didn’t even get my first wand on my original classic mage until 30s and when I ran out of mana I had to melee mobs that were almost dead with my staff bonk on head 100 damage.
