Mage tower

has anyone tried the mage tower on paladins? i want to get the set but im limited on time, what is the spec everyone is having the easiest time with?

The paladin one is quite difficult for me given that I’m having to go full single target damage with build/talents since the bosses have so much hp and don’t have trinkets to fall back on if I mismanage my defensives. Alongside this their are constant knockbacks that throw you off the platform and instantly kill you and unlike other tanks we cant get back on, however it seems goblin gliders work here to counter act this.

Prot feels manageable, damage-wise. I just have to remind myself not to get knocked off the platform by internals…Judgment doesn’t always kill eyes in one hit for me, which is annoying. I feel like Inquisitor follows me around more and ends up on top of Velen more often than I remember, but maybe I’m just making that up.

Holy feels OK. Mages in particular are overtuned for all healers, I think, which makes it tough, but once I get my plan down, it should be fine. No clue about the phase where the boss is drawing sprits towards himself- with nothing to smack, that could be really hard, or they could’ve tuned it really easily…

Haven’t tried Ret yet. From my attempts on that boss as Demo/Assassination, it seems like passive damage is higher than it was in Legion, in particular the axe throwing.

Holy is very manageable once you’ve wiped enough to cc the adds before they even aoe

Part 1 you can run repentance and alternate turn evil and rep when the fighters start casting knife dance. Hoj mage if you don’t have time to swap beacon to his next target and they’re low hp/other mobs are also about to attack

Part 2 is a dps check where trinkets come in really handy. Wings on eyeball room, bubble to kill multiple ideally, aoe down next room, heal up the staircase npcs, bubble and wings will be back up for the last room with the eyeballs. I just hoj/turn evil the mage while killing the eyeballs

Part 3 you can heal all the ghosts with just flash/holy shock/wog/martyr if your haste is high enough, you shouldnt need to use cooldowns for it. Put beacon 1 and 2 on the two npcs fighting so they don’t die to neglect

Part 4 is the most annoying
Use everything you have to do as much damage as possible, run along the edges of the arena to maximize lava-free floor space and keep your hp below 50% to not kill the tank
You’ll likely run out of floor room before the boss is dead so use defensives, do as much damage as you can, hoj and turn evil give you time to heal up the tank and yourself and delay his next leap

Idk if hpal can currently pass the dps check without using trinkets and consumables

yea i did it when it was current, it sounds like its about the same thing now, probably a little harder due to no artifact weapon or lego’s.

thanks for the info.

Holy is difficult but as you learn your way through the scenario and minimize your mistakes, many parts of it become trivial.

I’ll always hate that health debuff in the final phase that makes you have to keep your health bar low.

I did it as ret, used some special gear and heirloom weapon. Used a more cleave spec for it, with zeal and seraphim. Took me roughly 35 pulls. Also used flask, potion of str, rune, and stat food.

I’m on attempt 399 for the prot challenge. Its the infernal smash (knockback) that seems to be killing us lumbering paladins 95% of the time. Feels like the cast time leaves absolutely ZERO room for error. Add an average latency of 150ms because my internet is trash - makes this challenge feel so very bad.

3% was my best attempt - when all the stars aligned, then came the yeet
