I’ll be 100% honest here and say I would use the fire kitty model if my sparkle kitty was owned by everyone.
The only reason I use sparkle cat is because of the rep that comes with it. When you’re in a 5man as a feral you are already at a disadvantage but when you see that one person type in /party: Well at least the feral has sparkle cat so we know he can play… even if he is feral.
Again if they want a cool cat go farm firelands. Firecat > Sparklecat. The value of Sparkle is 100% the scarcity in it. When that is gone, then nothing is left. Just look at the hearthstead. Great mount but no one uses it because it was given for free.
kind of different though, since for these achievements specifically, they involve players that have a different viewpoint on the matter and would be affected. That’s the one part of this debate that is kind of frustrating - players that dislike the idea, and do explain that it diminishes their achievement goes completely ignored by players that feel entitled to them in almost every conversation.
when you have players involved, you need to consider both sides. they promised and are saying they’re not going to break their promise to those players. obviously many of those players are in the minority because said achievements were meant to be obtained by a smaller fraction of the population…literally their purpose (it’s in the title for some of them, like ahead of the curve for example) - but that doesn’t mean their arguments should get thrown out the window.
i see what you’re saying though, but i think this is a lot different than ripcord personally…
Yes, it is subjective. Which is exactly why I said, “personally.” That is not to say that it wasn’t difficult for other players, classes, and specs. I only completed it on the 3 easy druid specs. My point was to say that maybe only half of the MT challenges were truly challenging, but it was nothing compared to the Twisting Corridors of Torghast when it first came out, and I don’t believe those rewards from MT are to be held up as high as other more difficult challenges in the game (Torghast completion deserved way higher reward than it gave). Even so, no matter how much those appearances are worth, I don’t ever believe that only players available during that time should be given the chance to struggle to obtain them.
As I keep saying in other threads, if they re-released the mage tower skins, they’d have to be fair about it and release literally every other time exclusive thing that was ever lost.
Would that be a good idea? That’s the ultimate question right there.
Yeah it’s funny, people back then were like ‘‘omg, how can you not do it…’’ personally I was a newbie then and not used to that kinda stuff so I couldn’t do 'em. Some people really have a hard time being a tad sympathetic or understanding.
The tank challenge alone would be a showstopper in blues/greens. Not enough dps to clear it, even with flask/pot/drums. Much less complete “with ease.” Gonna go ahead and say op is lying.
You are correct! Exclusivity and scarcity does create value, but that does not mean it should no longer be obtainable. Sure, the Zulian Tiger no longer drops from ZG, but players are still able to obtain it from the bmah (I got the drop right before it was removed luckily). I also have the Heavenly Onyx Cloud Serpent. When the Sha of Anger first became available, the mount drop was bugged and wasn’t fixed until way later when most players gave up. It also was given a near 1/3000 drop chance making it still one of the rarest and most valued mounts in the game (also available on the bmah). So you see, material things don’t need to be time-exclusive to be valuable, they just need to be difficult to obtain.
I can sympathize with those who didn’t get a chance to do them, or couldn’t do them. They definitely were not easy challenges, and not everyone was able to pull it off. I don’t see them as lesser people for not having a mage tower skin.
It actually depends on your class. Like doing Agatha on a unholy Dk or Ele Shammy is a one shot joke , but for a combat rogue without a the leggo ring it will take many tries .
Like wise the frost dk , arms warrior and DH had the same challenge the Wizard but due Frost dk mobility suckage its much harder than the other two .Dh its a joke so much aoe so much mobility might as well mail them the skin
haha, I did say “mostly” blue/greens. I’m sure I had a few of whatever crappy leggos or epics I was able to get from WQs, WBs, or dungeons. I have little memory or that expac since I was busy with school. I was a noob who only played feral, so my gear was pretty much the same for guardian, but I have no idea what I did for the balance druid challenge. Pretty sure I managed it in my feral gear with the balance artifact. I do remember looking up video guides that talked about why druid was so easy (except resto).
Yes it was near the end when they announced that it would be going away.
Availability is not what makes sparkle kitty cool. It’s cool because it looks amazing. Most players love aesthetics that are brightly colored, glow, or sparkle.
Regardless, neither the MT druid forms, nor its weapon skins are scarce. I see sparkle kitties and MT Scythe of Elune all over the place, every single day I play. I don’t understand why most MT completion people have the mentality of “I’m special because I have something very few people have.” No you aren’t and no you don’t. Look around, they are everywhere.
