So its apparently now a well known glitch (at least in the discord server I’m in) that if you drop the Soul Trap shadowlands engineering item where inquisitor variss moves to at the start of the encounter that it will banish him for about 4 seconds before the fight starts, just after his RP.
This also stops him from dropping his corruption aura, so every tank can get 100% uptime on him and enter phase 2 with only 1 infernal.
This was discovered on the PTR and reported but Blizzard did not bother fixing it, and it is now live. Entire guilds are using this to get their Felbears because they discovered it on PTR, and this is completely unfair.
QA is a very important process in game development, and Blizzard failing to do so has trivialized what for many is the only real content of 9.1.5…
…So go get those Fel Bear Forms, post a video from last month of you clearing MT the “correct” way on the PTR like many of the streamers are doing, and call it a day.
EDIT - The reason I’m posting this here is because I already reported the bug on live, I know a buddy reported this on the PTR, and Blizzard STILL isn’t addressing it. This says a lot about Blizzards QA, or the lack thereof.

eh. I’m just gonna go ahead and assume anyone I see who’s done it either cheesed it with tw gear or used this bug. It’s just easier that way.
What is this magic!? I must go get engineering thing! What’s it called how do I get!?!
I need the cheese!!!

But it’s clearly cheating, and you might get the achievement taken away.
Great to practice phase 2, but I wouldn’t complete the scenario with it unless your looking for a vacation.
How is it cheating though?
Did warrior who used broken Crusader enchant get a vacation?

Just think back to the same exact mage tower scenario. Guardian druids bypassed the first phase of the fight by using astral affinity and luffas. It’s not really that much different.

Blizzard won’t take away your felbear if you use this, lol.
But it’s definitely cheating. Making an NPC immune to applying an aura to himself and the NPC not being coded to try to apply it again after the immunity ends is pretty intentionally grossly violating the spirit of the encounter.
Exploit early exploit often.
Need to tell OP to delete the post lol
Time to pick up engineering as a profession. Do you know if that still trap thing is hard to get?
There’s a difference between “using tools to circumvent a threat” and “breaking the intended logic of the game so something intended to happen doesn’t happen due to a coding (not a design) oversight”. This is akin to using Saronite bombs to repair Lich King’s platform. You won’t get banned because it isn’t as high-profile as killing the final boss of an expansion, but this is not clever use of game mechanic it’s a straight up exploitation of a “bug’” in the coding of the encounter.
ROFL I wonder how many of the very few who got the fel werebear used this trick and didnt tell anyone cuz they knew it would take away from their “achievement” i get to p2 once every 10 tries and only need more practice in p2 to complete the challenge, how much you wana bet this will be fixed by the time i get home from work. My god
