Mage Tower help please

I’ve been beating my head against my keyboard trying to beat this :frowning:

I’m shadow, I’ve tweaked my spec and tried several builds but no success. The best I’ve done it getting down to the last phase where Karem dies (I think that’s his name) but Raest enrages and I can’t withstand his damage for very long. Once my self healing cds and mana are gone, I die

On the other hand I’ve tried leaving the warrior alive, but he eventually gets too fast to kite and dps Raest. He catches me and teefs me into the void

Void tendrils help a lot, but the cd is so long it’s not a good tactic to keep him at bay

Do any of you guys have any tips? I’m hitting a wall and getting discouraged

(One thing I found out is Dominate Mind works on the big adds that spawn from the runes. It’s not ideal but it’s a good save if you miss one)

For disc priest I could not do it. I tried like 50+ times. Then I got this trinket, and immediately after, first try, I downed it.

My point? Is there a trinket or some little trick or something you need?! Have you consulted guide videos and/or other guides?

In my case I also used a bunch of marcros and weakauras which made it waaay easier.

Hopefully this helps. Sorry for no specifics.

I’ve been working on getting the Mechagon laser trinket. That one is good for dealing with the portal hands from what the guides say

I’m just hard stuck on Raest. I can get to the last phase pretty reliably, but he just overwhelms me before I can kill him.

I don’t remember him enraging in legion  but it’s been so long maybe I’m just forgetting it lol

I just did it again to check it was still doable after the nerfs and I can confirm it is. I used a voidform single target build with shadow crash purely to make tidying up adds easier (This was not necessary at all given what I found out). My gear had 23% haste, 8% crit and like idk…? 14% mastery? I didn’t actually check.

The biggest tip I have is practice doing damage. I used my regular gear (Forgot to swap sporecloak off so only 1 embellishment) with 1 Dragonflight damage pot (No drums tho) and I had Raest at 50% after the first burn phase and then killed him without touching karam and before a final phase rune had even spawned (Got the one at the end of P3 as normal though). Getting comfortable doing damage while kiting and doing the correct opener rotation when you engage raest for the first time is huge.

Beyond that, when kiting Karam don’t run in circles, run in straight lines so he can’t walk on the inside and catch up to you. When he gets close fear him and run away again in a straight line. I didn’t use tendrils but maybe they’re ok.

If Raest is low and hands are up, don’t swap to them and instead just pop a defensive when the cast is about to go off or silence it if you have it available.

The runes can only spawn in 1 of 3-4 spots all in the area near where you spawn in at the start. You can kite the adds / Karam to the back of the room in anticipation of rune spawns to keep that area clear to run into when they do appear. Fear can always be used in a pinch to create space.

Slowroll Karam in P2, there’s no reason to push this phase quickly as you can kite / deal with hands effectively forever. You want to chill as long as you’re comfortable so you can get your cds back.

I cannot stress how important being good at dps is. The more you do in that first burn the less mechanics you’ll have to do later on. I literally had Raest at 50% after the first burn and 20% before Karam even stood back up for the final phase.

Thank you I appreciate the insight. I’m sure my rotation isn’t perfect. I’m reading guides but muscle memory struggle is real lol

I’m going to attempt it a few more times when I get home. I’ll try your suggestion and ignore Karem a bit more. Just from the health percentages you listed I see my damage on Raest is low. I’ll make that my focus.

The adds and hands are fine I think, I don’t usually die to them, it’s usually Karem catching me or Raest killing me when he enrages

The guide’s kinda outdated as I haven’t had chance to update the talent builds. Realistically the strategy hasn’t changed, we’re just doing SIGNIFICANTLY more damage relative to the encounter tuning than we were when I wrote it. I had an expectation that the final phase would last about 80 seconds, on the run I just did it barely lasted 10.

Don’t kill karam. As soon as he sits down for the second time at 30% your focus is raest and hands only from there.

Ok I’ll try that tonight. Usually I kill him because he catches me but that probably because Raest has too much health left
