The real problem with trying to hardcast is the Infernals. I don’t know why it took me a while to figure out but the goal is to avoid killing them as much as possible. Once they become brittle they stop doing pulsing damage. If you can avoid killing them indefinitely, you will never have to deal with their AE again. I decided that I would prefer to just go into P2 with only 2 small Infernals with 100% consistency rather than trying to beat the DPS check for 1 Infernal and sometimes getting the 2nd one right as I phase with it being big (which makes it so much more stressing), and then keep the Infernals I go into P2 with on the edges of the room and I keep dragging Kruul away from them as much as possible. I take them down near the very end of the fight when I want to focus on my timing for popping the orbs.
This reduces the DPS check in p1 by a lot (so much that I dare say P1 is a cakewalk with this strat), it makes the strategy way more consistent as well, so I could just focus mentally on the hard part of the fight, which is trying to do DPS to Kruul while not dying to the 4th and 5th Annihilate and using the orbs to extend the fight to delay the 6th.
As far as the moonkin weaving part with this strat, I mostly use “Moonkin time” to refresh Sunfire, sneak in a Starsurge, cast Regrowth if needed, and ping eyeballs. Wrath or any other hardcasts don’t seem time efficient to me.
I’m consistently getting to the final stage now but i keep dying with the boss around 100k hp, i run out of floor room from the fel puddles and i’m not sure what to do differently
I think it would have been cool if they left it super hard on week 1, it would be a brutal challenge for those that like it and kinda replicate week one of it’s initial release. Week 2 they would retune it for the 7.3 patch power levels for those that don’t like the brutal difficulty. Everyone gets a bit of what they like that way
Contrats! It wouldn’t be such a sweet victory if it wasn’t this hard. I haven’t got one yet but I don’t want them nerfed because I want my victory to be just as sweet.
i got frustrated and dug out my bfa socket gear from season 4, and for the first time ever actually used consumables, and i got to final stage so many times but always died around 30%
to finally see him at 10k hp and my hp barely holding on and to finally get the kill was actually one of the best experiences i’ve had in wow so far
Alright, this one’s unreasonable. I understand the point behind your post but weakauras and addons are a must for most forms of content, and this one was used just as much back in Legion as it is now because information conveyance in WoW is trash. This doesn’t help prove or disprove a point you’re aiming to make, it just makes you look unreasonable.
Are you sure about this? Financially It’s more profitable for Blizz to let it be as it is and let us, the consumers, pay more game time to get all the gear we actually need to beat the challenges the next year; since WE WERE NOT PREPARED (I had to do it sorry) for the tower to be this stupidly difficult with the last moment changes from PTR.
Oh I 100% plan to. Im doing the guardian one atm and am fairly consistently getting to p2. Every death is my own fault which is what I want in a challenge. its not RNG or anything its my own play vs the game.
Best challenge in a game I have had for ages (never done mage tower before since I didnt play legion)
This is exactly why the mage tower is so cool, though. They are NOT tuned in such a way that they’re impossible. But you only need to beat them once to get the rewards, and they ARE hard. But you can progress little by little and improve every time. Think how awesome it feels when you work hard and finally win. That’s why if they nerf, it has to be small. Because any actual big nerf turns it into a complete joke, and there’s no satisfaction in winning
It seems doable, but it’s VERY messy. It really is a “challenge”, as it mentions in its title. The more time I spend on it the more I understand the fight… like any other fight. I think it’s meant to be a time and gold sink… not a seasonal event challenge. Though I think it will make more players quit. :\ There’s a toxicity brewing around it; had a guildie say it was easy (the old one) in passing when I mentioned how my runs went. My sub’s up in a month… so I don’t care. I’ll keep trying … maybe idk, not really sure I want to spend the majority of my time in game on just mage tower…
Side note: if the old mage tower was easier, why were the rewards way better? people sweating over nerfed rewards.
Which is the beauty of it. you dont have to. all its for is a reskin of a mog that is in itself a reskin of a mog so its no loss if you dont want to do it. for those of use that do enjoy it though it is a unique part of the game because there are no other hard solo content in the game.
But these nerfs are crap! I beat it but barely and I’m not gonna repeat that toxic rage that consumed me for 3 weeks. I think it should be nerfed in a way that you don’t have to use extra stuff. Just your skill, abilities, spells. That way if you mess up, it’s on you. Not because you didn’t have well fed, flask and other buffs.
