Mage Tower: Git Gud = Get The Cheese

I’m not convinced that anyone can beat all these challenges without using some kind of cheese. Specifically I’m talking about the guardian druid fight, it’s the one I’ve looked at the most. I want to see someone beat this fight without consumables worth tens of thousands of gold, farmed Chromie and socket gear, trinkets that allow for more damage or a cheat death, or weak auras and addons. Moreover, I want to see a dev do this fight without the cheese. The few people who I have seen complete this fight, most of them were dead at the end and the NPC finished the fight.

I think the intentions were good in making this a fight of skill where gear doesn’t matter. The problem is that it doesn’t work for almost anyone unless there is some edge from the cheese.

I feel that this fight and others needs tuned down so they are possible for a good player to complete without farming a bunch of junk or using special potion of pwnage. Just disable all the consumes, remove the socket advantage, and get rid of the trinkets like the Mechagon laser one and Splintered Heart of Al’ar (which allows people to get past the fifth annihilate).

This fight can be a test of skill, but it’s still a test of cheese. It can be done better.

Monterey Jack is best melting cheese

Nerfs thankfully incoming soon for the tower, trying to do it without spending tons of gold and farming is just not the way to go for the tower.

I fully expect them to ruin it when they nerf it. I’m having a blast in there atm. Getting to p2 a bit now and making decent prog. They just need to leave it available and leave it hard. Give us something to work at the isn’t instantly achievable

I mean the current issue is that its tuned harder than it was when it first launched, now that isn’t to say its impossible, yet its harder than its supposed to be. Personally the paper dolls keep getting melted by the last wave, which is when I will have rotated all my CD’s to keep them up.

Along with simply put most of the time the reason why I even fail P1 is because of RNG with what the trash shoots or hits. Which means I’m already struggling to heal them up through hard casts and words of glory. They made everything hit too hard, along with made heals just be super wimpy with the fact that they disabled all borrowed power. I made it to p2 just a couple secs ago before I failed, yet it wasn’t skill but pure rng on what the adds were targeting.

I agree. I read a lot of strats involving using old gear that scales better in the tower. I thought this was supposed to be a test of skill and spec knowledge, not numbers. If we are countering all the mechanics thrown at us and still losing because of overtuned numbers, something is wrong.

Toonah also did it without “cheese” gear.

It’s not when they already made a blue post about looking at the tuning of the tower based on data that is currently being gather. I.E. what the players are having to do to beat the tower in its current iteration. It’s inevitable that they’ll nerf it, personally I just wanna do it for the challenge aspect. Yet due to it not being up constantly, it needs to be nerfed to ensure for the times its up people have a good shot at it.

As for the mog, I could care less, the tomb sets were ugly sets, at least to me, so I really don’t care about the retint, and simply will wait for them to nerf it at this point. With the latter being just not doing it cause I don’t care to put the required effort into doing something for +10 achievement points and a set I’ll never use.

OP the name cracked me up. I agree though the guardian scenario is a pain in the you know what! Those netherspawns have too much health i sometimes can’t even get them down after roaring to interrupt. Very frustrating. I think minus those the fight is pretty manageable if they could just tweak their health a little bit to go down after a thrash and swipe if you are DOTing them up with moonfire as they spawn. Also, I hate Velen and his squishiness.

Why are you talking about P1 like that matters? The entire fight is the 2nd phase. That’s what is broken about the fight. Makes me wonder if you’ve even done it.

Because if you can push P1 with 3-4 orbs and 1 infernal it makes p2 signficantly easier.
It gives you the opportunity to moonkin weave more, and adds an extra 16 seconds (4 per orb) on the enrage timer.

Oh I’m aware, I just think it’s optimistic that anything will happen before the first two week window is up.

The challenge should have been done with fix stat templates that cant be influenced by gear.

I decided I’d prove you wrong by trying moonkin weaving and uhh… yeah, that’s like 1000 times easier. EZ p1 push, a very strong P2 (no kill yet, but close) on like the 3rd try during my coffee break.

and like, in p2, sunfire is adding so much boss DPS too.
