My problem with mage tower is that in the current state of the game I simply can not get the right lvl of gear to do any damage. I agree in Legion, it was supposed to be hard, but also, the mechanics at the time had ways to make it manageable. Though for someone who does not have the time to raid and gear grind the mage tower Timewalk is just impossible to do. For me this kind of difficulty just makes the game not fun. In Legion, it was hard, but this should be fun. Which it’s not. Again my expectation is not a super simple walk in the park, just that after 3-5 min I should at least be able to see at least some damage done seeing the enemy health bar go visibly down. Otherwise 3-5 tries with limited time and not being able to visually make a dent is just a bad gameplay experience. I suppose I expected it to be more like Torghast.
I used to play a lot, I enjoyed a the challenge, this feels impossible for my destro warlock. I am a casual player now and at this point, I don’t know if I will be able to get my mog. Makes me unhappy.
You want everything to be completely faceroll, which has never worked well in the past. Most people love the challenge and enjoy new MT. It does not take much to gear on wow these days, make less alts, make more friends. Be more competent.
you can do a low layer of torghast without powerups, it’s easier and about the same thing.
My spouse is watching the fights they had from PTR and they aren’t the same. Blizz seems to have overtuned the MT. What I bet will happen is it’s going to be super hard this time and people will complain then in 18 weeks maybe they will tune it down some.
diagnosis: skill issue
They should really make the timewalk version more of a template type run based on skill. Perhaps an ilevel up to a level where 30% can get it done on skill.
The main flaw with the tw mt is the scaling. When it was current, you could get gear that would make it a bit easier. You can’t do that with scaling tech. As a result, it’s effectively locked out to those relying on such gear. Basically Blizz has removed that “setting” and this is the consequence.
Thankfully none of the rewards make it actually worth doing.
uh
then you’re simply not trying very hard. or at all.
you’re not building a gear set from shadowlands.
you’re building a timewalking gear set. the below links are to google doc spreadsheets of gear from the timewalking discord. there’s not one for paladin (yet) so keep an eye out, but you can look at these to get a general idea of what kind of gear to go after.
