Mage tower flashbacks

So I’m still traumatized from the mage tower, “as a clicker” I found it really hard and challenging. And i fondly remember sitting at some starbucks, ordering an strawberry energy drink or whatever and atempting it a zillion times.

Who else remembers with fondness those times ?

That made the game fun and challenging, bring that back blizz.

I remember almost throwing my computer across the room, quitting the game, etc. Even though the mechanics were poorly thought out, I am glad I got through it.

13 tries to get the bear appearance using every available trick the game had to offer only for the spec to be a dumpster fire the next expansion

thank you blizzard

They were all an achievement that I am proud to have completed. I even helped provide some advice to my fellow gamers in hopes anything I had experienced and could pass on could be of assistance in getting his/her challenge completed.

I look back as one of the most fun I have had in World of Warcraft.

Having said that, I spent a lot of time playing all of my characters in preparation for those challenges and not sure I would like to do it again under the time constraints of fitting in attempts between work, family, available free time AND when the tower would be up. It started getting stressful at the end when my and the availability to get them was limited.

70+ tries for me. :frowning:

I did get every appearance I wanted across every class except shaman, though. So… there’s that.

By the time I moved away from the healing and tanking ones? The DPS ones were surprisingly easy for the most part.

I keep telling myself I could have done it again but the attempt I finally got it the stars and the planets aligned so I don’t think I’d get as lucky. It’s a nice look for what it’s worth but shame the spec is pretty bad

So are you still a clicker, or did you learn the joys of keybinds?

There’s a reason I tended to label the Mage Tower as “dead clicker storage:” you either learned how to use keybinds or you were going to have a very bad time.

I think I legitimately had a victory crying break when I beat my Ret Challenge.

The only mage tower that really gave me trouble was the Affliction one because I did it before TOS gearing and didn’t have the Corruption legendary ring that made it easy.

It still doesn’t compare to when I did Kanrethad back in MoP wearing leveling blues/greens. Everything had to be 100%, absolutely perfect.

13? I did it in 3. I just DPS’d the crap out of him. Moonkin was a joke, ran around in a circle while moon/sunfire and starfall spam.

So much fun and reason to have alts at cap.

I’m a clicker as well, and I enjoyed the Mage Tower challenge. It didn’t stop me from getting the appearances I really wanted, and all of my toons are DPS. I would like to see something like that in BfA, but I think the devs nixed that idea.

The mage towers are my favorite thing they ever added to the game. I wish they would do something similar every expansion

The dps was ez mode though wut. Honestly the only hard one was the tank tower, healer was okay. Still fun cause the rewards were beautiful pieces of gear

I would love to level my alts going forward using the mage tower Mogs.

The restrictions are just beyond stupid. Yet pay $20.00 dollars for a mog in the store and all restrictions are removed. It’s disgusting.

Mounts don’t work this way so why Mogs?

My favorite was trying to get my affliction lock done because I think It’s hands down the best item in the game. My first legendary was the slowing ring for corruption so I had a huge advantage and got it done with a drastically lower ilvl than most players / before people could just easily out gear it.

It was my favorite bit of content that has ever been introduced to the game. I had so much fun learning other classes and specs that i would otherwise never touch.

I loved the mage tower. Didn’t get any of the healers ones though because I can’t heal. Otherwise I got the rest done. Easiest for me was fire mage, disc and bm Hunter which I 1 shot those 3. Hardest was prot pally which took like 70 attempts and prot warrior as I just kept stuffing up p1 otherwise the other tanking ones were easy

Protection paladin was the hardest for me too at 88 attempts. That was my first attempt at any challenge though. The rest of the tank challenges were much easier in comparison.

The others I found most challenging were frost mage (Much easier second time I did it with another frost mage), fury warrior (that extra Agatha health…), and mist weaver monk (lol now).

I one-shot restoration druid, elemental shaman, and enhancement shaman.

Also to note: my demonology warlock finished the challenge after about 18 minutes of the fight. In my defense I don’t play demonology and my gear wasn’t that great. I survived on basically having enough mana for 1 dot to tick and then had to drain life to stay alive / life tap. Plus that super long silence cooldown had to be timed perfectly. It was challenging in its own right

Cant really say it gave me a hard time as a clicker. 1. Because I cheesed it as spriest with surrender to madness. 2. Unh dk the other one i got. Is pretty easy as well.
