Mage Tower encounter: Kruul. Is this the intended scaling?

i took out zekvir after about 10 tries, with a gs of about 590. i certainly wouldnt consider myself a ‘pro’ or anything, but i dont think i am exactly stupid. but i have just spent over two hours trying to clear this, and i just cant do it. there is just too much knockback. i can handle the rest, but even using a goblin kite i get knocked off no matter how hard i try to avoid it. i stop dps and pick off the eyes as soon as they show, i always try to move perpendicular to the infernals los… and i’ve made it as far as getting kruul down to about 120k. once. in all that time.

i love a challenge, but goddam. this is absolutely brutal. the few times i managed to avoid death to knockouts, velen gets taken out. he dies in ONE cast of drain life, which i am usually pretty good about interrupting, but had nothing one time and saw him die to one cast without any adds on him.

Yup! Kruul is a very cruel encounter. This fight at least on memory was extremely tight DPS wise to not get 3 infernal, and even tighter to out pace Kruul’s one shot. This is the kind of fight you spend a week trying your heart out then one day you wake up and do it first try as it all clicks.

Those both sound about right. You pretty much need to interrupt that cast (life drain, and Kruul’s heal later) and prevent the small adds from getting off their big channel (I think it’s nether storm?). The main thing to worry about imo is the infernals though, they have a reasonable cast time on their frontal line that launches you back, and they don’t turn once they start the cast but the animation isn’t obvious until the last moments of their cast time. You will ideally get a timer of some sort for that or stay highly mobile if you’re on Paladin. DH can ignore it, Warrior can charge or glide (dracthyr) it, DK have knockback immunity tools and Druid gets a few charge tools. Monk and Pally really have to be careful of that launch though, it’s what killed me the most for sure.

Probably the best pick for that encounter?

Sorry, your title says Kruul and your paragraph says zekvir.
What exactly are you talking about?
edit: oh, I see, you mentioning zekvir was absolutely irrelevant to what you’re asking.

You can do the whole tank MT without being knocked back once.
Any time you get knocked back, it means you are not doing the mechanics correctly.

So it’s hard to say what the scaling is like because what you described is not a scaling issue.

Zekvir not only party crashes your delves but he also crashes your thoughts.

He got Zek in 10 tries but Kruul has so many knockbacks and he is having a tough time with the encounter.

If you’re just going for the book, yeah. If you are going for paladin armor I find God-Queen to be the easiest by far of the three, DH or Warrior is probably easiest pick for Kruul. Guardian is what I’d honestly recommend because they get the unique reward for it, but if you don’t play druid, DH and Warrior are very safe picks.

Well, both, one day.

I’m pretty lazy, and bad, so when I finally make a go for it, gonna cheese it however I can.

And I forgot about the fel hulk bear and I do have druids.

I follow.
Do people think Delves = MT 3.0?
Because we should squash that right now if so lol

Its pretty on point. It is easier then it has been for most of its existence ( last season of legion with full ilv was the easiest).

The delv boss is easier then mage towers with the possible exception of fel totem. Big thing for kruul is to NAIL the mechanics.

Odds are the dos check won’t really come into play. Its all about managing the abilities. Lotta attempts are lost from trying to burst him.

Did we have mage tower 2.0?

Yes, MT in late SL/DF was very different from in Legion.

Not really… (??) Comes close but the mechanics are very generic to cover all specs so it comes down more to if you have the hp to survive white hits.

Oh, I see. I was trying to think of what other challenge we had in line with MT, lol. Gotcha now

It took me over 100 tries to take out Kruul back when it was current.

I’m not a grinding sort, I just can’t do something over and over, I think Mario Bros and Sonic got all I had to give in that regard.

But I was already neck deep in it all and my stubborn streak kicked in and I wasn’t going to quit…or was I?

After 100 or so tries I was over it, was running on fumes and then I needed the bathroom, but thought meh one last shot and I’m done for good.

That last run went so smooth, you’d think I’d done the fight like 100 times or something!

Yeah, it’s an okay fight but it really demonstrates that 39 specs across 3 roles can’t all be given the same one generic challenge without severe imbalances in it unfortunately.

Kruull is rough. I think Blood Dk was the scariest at how immobile they are.

They can be balanced, Kruul has a different amount of HP in the BDK encounter compared to say the Bear encounter for example.

BDK was on a diff level of difficult for me.
Luckily BDK was my main at the time I completed it in Legion and SL xD
