Mage Tower Artifact RBG Tint

So I have recently found out that in order to obtain the mage tower artifact tint that comes from winning 10 RBGs after completing the MT in Legion, you have to win the 10 RBGs on the same character on which you originally completed the MT. I found this out by slogging through 10 RBG wins on this paladin, only to realize I didn’t unlock it because I had to win them on the paladin I played during Legion who I no longer wish to play.

Blizz, this is unnecessarily restrictive and extremely player-unfriendly in the current game. Note that I am NOT asking for the mage tower skins to be brought back. I am asking for the restriction on obtaining this tint of that skin to be loosened. If we obtained the mage tower skin during Legion, we shouldn’t have to unlock this tint on the same character. Instead, we should be able to unlock tints on any character of the same class.

Thank you.

this does make sense if you think about it… that paladin in legion is the one who has the credit for completing the mage tower quest.

the mage tower quest completion isn’t account wide… changing that would require an overhaul of the entire mage tower questline, which they would likely never do because it has been removed from the game.

Unfortunately, unless they bring back the mage tower weapon appearances, I don’t think they’ll change the way you earn the tints.

Yeah, kind of annoying and weird to keep track of. I almost forgot which Monk I got my appearances on.

No, it really wouldn’t. All it would take is “You can now unlock the mage tower alternate tints on other characters of the same class.”

yes, it would require completely re-designing the mage tower quest to give account-wide credit… it’s not as easy as simply turning on a switch, they would have to completely re-code it.

I typed that into VSCode, but I keep getting an error.

EDIT:

Seriously though, with how long it took them to change “Balance of Power”, I wouldn’t hold your breath.

Hmm, I dunno if it would necessarily be as difficult as all that. The condition exists to check whether you have unlocked the MT skin and tints on a class basis to unlock it on the wardrobe, so maybe it could simply expand to an if else loop. (I know, if you start your statement with ‘IF…ELSE’ you already messed up) I’m not saying it would be easy.

Kind of like how you can now complete meta-achievements on more than one character?

I dunno, I have a paladin, a shaman, a dk, a dh and a druid that I can never really delete, just in case. Maybe one day I’ll get on with winning 10 RBGs. Ugh.

They did change it though so it is something that could happen.

I read that wrong and thought we were getting some cool gamer rainbow glow skin for Mage Tower weps

It definitely is annoying OP. I realized that if I wanted some dh flame tints and bear colours I needed the original characters which I abandoned and most likely need to be max level to stand a chance but not really up to leveling more just for that stuff.

I think they should change it to bg wins at the level of that character. If that character is still a 45, they can queue in the appropriate bracket.

I forget exactly what the others were. One was a heroic Kil’jaeden kill. Others were… world quests or something?

honestly should just change the requirement to complete 10 battlegrounds

No they should not. There is absolutely no reason to make the requirements more lenient now.

Honestly, getting 10 RBG wins for this tint is disproportionately difficult compared to the other two alternate tints, and I say this as someone who’s gotten this tint on 3 other characters so far.

did you at least pick up the artifact on this character?

Would love for those tint unlocks to become account wide. Completed the mage tower in legion. Unlocked the 10 RBG wins at any point on a character with the mage tower appearance. Unlocks the 10 RBG wins tint for all characters on the account who have the mage tower appearance.

Unfortunately, your only solution right now is to get that original paladin up to max level, slap some gear on, and get those 10RBG wins.

I don’t agree with it, they should just bring the appearances back. The simple fact of the matter is that the current versions of MT we play without Artifact Powers, no busted Legion Legendaries and no Tier sets allowed are inherently more difficult, and thus, are worthy of the full reward. And before anyone comes at me with “b-b-but my challenge!” Well plenty of the people who make this claim did them in 7.3.5 where you could just massively outgear it lol so please get on with yourselves

Yep. But the tint is still only unlockable on the character on which you completed the mage tower during Legion.

Disagree. The best solution is to leave them gone permanently, but keep introducing new “mage tower” type challenges with new rewards going forward.
