It is well known that towards the end of the xpac they were not very challenging to anyone with half a brain.
Thanks for clarifying. It took me several days to complete the DH ones, pre nerf, and I remember that the druid bear appearance was soooooo insanely cool, I rolled one to try and get it and having never tanked or played druid, yea it went as well as anyone would expect LOL
Personal experience says otherwise. Hardest DPS might’ve been shadow priest because S2M was a mandatory talent to do the fight.
Resto druid might’ve been the hardest for heals because that fight really needed direct heals. Made me lament that the glyph for Regrowth was no longer a thing.
Coulda fooled me with the way those defending them being locked away because of the “challenge” preach.
I don’t view it at taking it away from them. I have exclusive things on my account that aren’t available anymore. They could add them back to the game tomorrow and I wouldn’t lose a wink of sleep over it because my accomplishments are for me. Not anybody else. And I for sure don’t find them to be cause to prevent other people from trying to accomplish the same things I did. I see no reason to pull the ladder up after me.
I disagree, I don’t feel the need to look down upon the peasants who don’t have the same cool things I do. My reward is getting to use them before they’re available to the “unwashed masses”.
My character’s identity doesn’t change just because someone else is using the same mount or mog I am.
Well I am talking about when it came out and into the tomb patch / before antorus. When feral was still heavily into bleeding and you as a player having to speedrun your decisionmaking to have a chance it was quite tough for everyone who played it. Survival hunter was kind of the same. I think thats why feral got completely revamped in 7.3 I believe and it became in fact the easiest dps challenge similar to ww monk.
I cant talk for sp as I never done that one though.
It was based on a whim. Why not end it before Antorus? Why not keep it as long as they did the Mythic +15? Why not re-release it with the new Mage Tower?
Just arbitrary decision making - similar to the AOTC mount coming back.
Yeah I know. I did feral before Antorus. (I think. I can’t get the exact dates right now but the more I think about it…)
SP was a fight that required a lot of movement on a spec that was meant to mostly stand still. Once you popped s2m it didn’t matter - you were dead either way. You just had to make sure the boss died before you did.
They’re also entirely disregarding the fact that a majority of the playerbase got them during the Antorus patch, when ilvl and legendary scaling had hit a point that was so ridiculous that players could complete the mage tower in under a minute in most cases, completely invalidating the argument that people took the time “wiping” when people were already invalidating that effort IN THE SAME EXPANSION.
Dude did a single challenge in Legion (Havoc DH, unsurprisingly) and claims none of them were hard, also claims all the other skins were bad despite that being untrue.
Unholy’s best skin was likely the MT one. Same with feral druids.
Tbf, a decent amount are awful (hunter specifically comes to mind, priest’s are forgettable too) but a lot of them aren’t.
It wasn’t, it was modeled after WoD and MoP CM content. The only real difference is that it was added in the 2nd tier instead of being available from launch.
Your name is literally Contrarian… Nothing you say can be taken with any seriousness.

It’s a fair point and one that I appreciate. I guess everyone is motivated by different things. For me, looking at other players who had things I didn’t was a motivating factor on continuing to play and trying to be better at the game.
For me this all started in burning crusade when I started the game. I still remember the very first player (and ONLY player) on my entire server who got the first warglaive from Illidan. He was standing on a mailbox and there were hundreds of players around him. Back then Black Temple was reserved for the best guilds and players in the game and only 1 guild on my server reached Illidan.
I wanted to reach that level, the sheer coolness of that weapon lit a fire under me and I spent the all my time after that event honing my skills and becoming the best version of myself. This lead me to do serious high level raiding in wrath, with a server first achievement and the best gear in the game.
Some people. thrive on that identity, if it’s something you dont thrive on your probably an incredibly laid back casual player which is totally cool. But as I said, not everything in life or the game needs to be accessible by everyone.
Just like gladiator mounts. I dunno about today, but back in the day glad mounts were the coolest mounts in the game, I was never good enough, and that’s ok, I dont make posts asking blizzard to give old glad mounts to me. I am fine with a small subset of players having them which do not include me.
Literally no one asked, but “thanks” for the worthless response.

I done the challenge on my ww monk ilvl 880 or so took me like 11min to get the challenge done (when weapons were max charged). it wasnt worth doing it with such low ilvl but it was doable and so easy and all I got was the worst mt weapon, deservingly for that kind of effort.
Never using those clipping fists ![]()

Challenge Modes are timed heroic instance runs, done in low ilvl gear. Any gear worn above ilvl 463 will be scaled down. This ensures that running these instances will be challenging even in later tiers–you can’t outgear it.
A poor model since MT was solo and could be outgeared in later tiers. In fact, other content like AOTC is more akin to challenge modes since it’s patch-dependent and they’re choosing to bring that back. Why? Arbitrary decision making.
They even went so far as to link MT to ‘Corrupted Ashbringer’ which is a drop from a raid with other items still available. Why is Corrupted Ashbringer unavailable while Tier 3 is? Proves it’s simply arbitrary decision making.
Consider Mythic Raiding, some of the hardest challenges in the game: all trivially available to users an expansion or two later. Why are these freely available and MT isnt? Arbitrary whims.
They should be brought back because dead content that is removed because of fomo is a bad design.
Keep them in the game as a possible thing to get. Just make them hard to get.
Sure, but a significant amount of players couldn’t even do 1.
The success rate on a run was genuinely like 1% or lower, something crazy. They had a statistic for it somewhere. The average rate of ownership for any single skin is around 4%.
I personally think the whole “it was easy” argument is misguided, and generally wrong. People cite streamers or high level players saying so, but like, I’m sure those same people would say Ky’veza is easy as well.
It’s all relative. To me a few were really easy, most were easy to moderately difficult, and only one was smash my head against the wall hard (Blood, because Velen is an idiot). I was also a Cutting Edge level PvEr in Legion. The average player struggled far more.
A blanket descriptor of “easy” is better reserved for things like the Tyranotort, which you got from quite literally just participating.
They even went so far as to link MT to ‘Corrupted Ashbringer’ which is a drop from a raid with other items still available. Why is Corrupted Ashbringer unavailable while Tier 3 is? Proves it’s simply arbitrary decision making.
Yeah idk. I think they just cannot justify an artifact weapon being available as a general skin to every player or something, so they have to have a rationale. The black battle tank was a much better example when they gave it.
As far as mythic raids go, generally there is a cost, that cost being you won’t be able to solo it for 2 years and you’ll have to deal with a 1% droprate when you do go for it. Frankly I wouldn’t be surprised if they embrace full-blown FOMO with it, though.
If we don’t get the Mage Tower skins, you don’t get the AOTC mount. Fair is fair. You missed your shot back then, you don’t get it now.
(And this is someone who’s earned the ***king Balance MT appearance.)
This definitely needed another topic.
The horse isn’t even glue at this point. Pretty sure it’s been vaporized.
What can you really do other than just accept it. We’re seeing more posts after they were as clear as possible the skins would not return than before when there was a small possibility lol.
