Always wished there was reason to use the full mage kit instead of speccing into a singular school - How about a rune that let helps you use all elements! Few ideas for the rune:
Rune of the Elementalist
Casting a spell of one damage type grants a stacking damage buff (25%? 50%?) to other damage types (arcane, frost, fire) that stacks up to 2, but can only gain 1 stack per element.
So, for example, you start a fight with Fireball. Fireball then grants 1 stack of arcane damage, and 1 stack of frost damage. Then you cast frostbolt at +25% damage (1 stack), which grants another stack of arcane damage (now 2 stacks) and 1 stack of fire damage. Next spell is arcane missles, cast for 50% extra damage due to 2 stacks. Now fire has 2 stacks, and frost one, so switch back to a fire spell, rinse repeat.
Another possibility would be to buff the individual effects per spell, something like:
Rune of the Elementalist
Casting a spell of one damage type grants increased effects for other spell damage schools. Casting arcane missles grants a buff that increases the Fireball DoT aspect by 2-300%. Casting fireball changes your next frostbolt to frostfirebolt, combining the effects of fireball & frostbolt with increased damage. Frostfire bolt reduces the channel time and mana of arcane missles by 50%
Just spit-balling some ideas, but thereās 1000 different ways you could make the spells interact with each other.
Gameplay boiled down to spamming Frostfire bolt is the exact opposite of what iām asking for. Not sure how you read this entire post and came up with the conclusion that I was just asking for frostfire bolt?

I want my triple crit damage spell, at this point who knows it might keep mages relevant in the dps department.

I like the idea but I donāt like tons of qualifiers and procs for damage specifically, it just feels weird to me, I would rather get free casts, haste, extra charges of FoF, brainfreeze.
How about āRune of the Black Mageā:
Fireball and frostbolt grant Astral Fire and Umbral Ice.
Casting Fireball grants 1 stack of Astral Fire, up to a max of 3 stacks.
Astral Fire is a buff that increases the damage and MP cost of Fire spells, while lowering the damage and MP cost of Ice spells. At 3 stacks, the cast time of Ice spells is also halved. Astral Fire is mutually exclusive with [Umbral Ice]
Natural MP regeneration is halted during Astral Fire.
At 3x Astral Fire, fireball would cost 2x mana, deal 1.8x damage whereas frostbolt would have 0x mana cost, 0.7x damage, and 0.5x cast time.
Casting Frostbolt grants Umbral Ice.
Umbral Ice is a buff that significantly increases MP regeneration while reducing the MP costs of Ice spells, and lowering the damage and MP costs of Fire spells. At 3 stacks, the cast time of Fire spells is also halved. Umbral Ice is mutually exclusive with [Astral Fire]
At 3 stacks of Umbral Ice, you would regen 620 mana per tick, 0 mana cost on frostbolt, but fire spells only deal 0.7x damage. When you have umbral ice stacks you are able to regen mana while casting ice spells.
And also grant a new ability Transpose which instantly brings you to 1 stack of Umbral Ice if you are at 3 stacks of Astral Fire. Similarly, If you are at 3 stacks of Umbral Ice, it brings you to 1 stack of Astral Fire.
This defeats the purpose of what iām asking for - You would just spam one move until OOO, then spam another till youāre full mana. FF14 mage.
The goal iām trying to get at here is changing up the rotation from casting 1-2 spells over and over, to make the pve rotation more interesting, while incorporating more of the already existing mage kit/elements.

Brah⦠Are you ignoring the part where he said what MY wish was? Ya know, the part where he implied, directly, that my wish was for FFB to be added. This is not at all what iām asking for.
No, not in the slightest. Combining 2 spells into 1, and then just spamming that one move, is exactly what i donāt want. I want to use my other abilities. I want my rotation to be more than spamming 1-2 spells from 1 school of magic. And adding 1 spam move doesnāt solve that, or even close to it. Quite the opposite actually.
So iām not getting a āversionā of it. My post was not āHey make me a singular arcanefirefrost spam spell please!ā. If thatās what youāre getting out of the post, youāre not understanding at all what iām asking for. I want to use my other abilities. Not spam one.
