4 days all! Looking forward to joining everyone back in the Classic Realm.
Anyways, I am planning on rolling an Undead Mage for my first character in Classic. I am picking this as my first time in Vanilla was spent running a Shaman or Pally. So I want to try something completely new this time around and in fact I have never played a mage before.
Anyways, now that you have some context… Professions.
I know tailoring + Engineering/ Enchanting would be great for end game. However, as we know, the cost of resources for leveling these professions can be quite high especially in the beginning. So my thought was what I have done in previous expansions and new characters, start with two gathering professions, save the mats and use them at a later date to level up the desired professions.
So what do you all think of going
- Herb + Skinning
- Herb + Minning
- Skinning + Minning
- Other?
I would love to hear your thoughts on this
Thanks all!
EDIT
I totally forgot you can only track one type of gathering profession at a time… That would make it more difficult… Always fun remembering these small limitations that are no longer an issue in retail
Not sure if you can take 2 gathering professions. I think you were limited to 1 back in Vanilla. That said, Tailoring and Enchanting are always a good look for a mage.
Edit: Apparently i was wrong, but its still a pain to do with 2 gathering professions.
Herb/Mining is awkward since you can only track nodes of one at a time for what it is worth.
Personally going to do skinning/mining until 40 (selling the hides for my mount). Then sometime later go eng/mining.
You could always take two. It was just difficult to use because of the tracking.
Trying to do two gathering productions will be made very difficult given the fact you can only track one type of thing at a time.
Im getting old and it was 15 years ago, lol My memory isnt what it used to be hehe.
There will probably an an addon that can put dots on your minimap for located herb and mine nodes. I remember using it on an alt so I could keep track of both as I came across new ones.
I’ll be doing Tailoring and Skinning on my Mage. Skinning is a reliable source of income and as it happens, some Tailoring recipes need leather of some sort. Later on I can drop Skinning for something else if I choose. No competition for nodes this way, which is kind of a big deal, at least early on.
Thanks for the suggestions all! I think I decided to just go Tailoring + Enchanting from the get go. What the hell, why not.
