Mage Profession

Had my mining and Engineering in mind but now I found out that Tailoring gives a set call Bloodvine which this guy mentions “this set was itemized well enough that it remained BiS through Blackwing Lair for Warlocks and Mages, and would often remain equipped until they collected items of (Doomcaller’s Circlet,Doomcaller’s Footwraps
Doomcaller’s Mantle
Doomcaller’s Robes
Doomcaller’s Trousers”
I will never give up engineering for PVP,PVE purposes. So what about if I go Tailoring and Engineering without mining? would it be a terrible idea? to not have mining and to have to be buying mats from the auction house all the time to level up the 2 proffessions ?

This answer changes depending on where we are in the life of the server.

For the first couple of months? Tailoring / Enchanting. 100%. You absolutely need to be crafting pieces while leveling and as a fresh 60. The Dreamweave stuff (circlet etc) is BiS until you get deep into the 60s dungeons. The Bloodvine set is literally pre-raid BiS. This like shadowweave and felcloth will suit you extremely well in the 40s and 50s. Making 16-slot bags will be a cash-cow for a long time. None of the Classic Enchants scale so they are disproportionately powerful early-expansion. Fiery and crusader and +int etc are the most powerful as they’ll ever be in the first few months. You’d be NUTS not to take Tailoring/Enchanting.

After we’re elbow deep in T2 and the server economy has settled? Engineering is great and fun. Mining / Herbalism will be extremely lucrative too. Alchemy is consistently lucrative throughout the expansion.

So you are suggesting me Tailoring-Engineering and buying all the mats from mining to level them up  wouldnt that be pricy, also I don’t think when the server goes live people will be selling mining mats, since they will be leveling up their own proffesion so thats a down for me i think

Nope. Not at all what I suggested.

do this: make an alt with mining to supply your engineer and put your mage in the inn for rested xp bonus, while you work on the mining alt.

sorry i misread you said tailoring-enchanting

Bloodvine comes out with ZG and requires rep to be farmed to get the patterns. You wont have it until that patch comes out.

You need tailoring for several reasons. One being the patterns like Robe of the Archmage and the belt. Various ither items are also quite good even the level 52 robe called Robe of Winter Night or something. Its a frost/shadow SP robe which is your preraid bis.

However Winter night is BoE and you can make money selling it

that will make me fall behind all the starter players, having an alt to supply mining. But i guess its the best idea for what I want

not too terribly far since the mage will have rested xp bonus, just dont forget to log out at an inn. make the mining alt a hunter so its easy and fast.

mage leveling with wand is so fast for the first few levels. almost be worth it to buy enchanting long enough to make your first two wands, then remove enchant and get engineering

Thank you!!

i recall standing in a farmer’s field that had fast respawning boars, and just rapid wanding them till i dinged like level 12, and in less than an hour. it was stupid fast.
