Mage Portals in AV

So here I go to grab my healthstone before setting off into the sunset, and before I know it I’m falling fast into the Dalaran crater.

Not only was I booted from AV, I get killed after landing in the middle of nowhere. Is this a report-able offense?

Nope.

I don’t think so. Mages have been doing that forever, it’s a classic troll and not breaking any rules.

Report them anyways. Need to let blizz know this is an issue.

As forests mother used to say,
Stupid is as stupid does

Unfortunately apparently blizzard doesn’t see it as “Griefing” despite it literally being so. :woman_shrugging:

Honestly, it’s just better off not touching anything early AV anymore. Too many trolls are being enabled by blizzard.

I miss Legion solely for the mileage I got out of Ancient Portal: Dalaran.

They can’t literally see it as griefing as griefing means different things to different people. It is a player made up term.

For exame, I do not see it as griefing as I have never once fallen victim to it. In 15 years of playing.

Clicki g the wrong portal, portal roulette, etc sure. But never once in a BG have I clicked a portal

That’s because usually in BGs portals are disabled.

The 1.5 Korraks revenge is the only place people run into this issue, because for some reason portals aren’t blocked from being cast in there.

It’s not a matter of being dumb and clicking on it. It’s literally a matter of this is the only BG in which people can cast portals, and no one’s expecting that, because it never comes up.

It’s griefing, because you’re intentionally trying to get someone kicked out of a BG, and pop them with a 30 minute deserter timer intentionally distrupting their gameplay by putting said portal ontop of typically summoned items, like Warlock Healthstone fountains and Mage drink dispensers. Which you -know- people have to right click on to interact with, and you -know- that with the mass number of people small details tend to be missed.

This isn’t an accident scenario, this is malicious and intentional. The sole purpose of doing this is to distrupt another players gameplay. It’s 100% griefing.

Doesn’t matter if you personally haven’t fallen for it or not.

Why is there a mage portal that teleports players into a free fall and ultimately death? Why does that exist? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

According to you.

That is the problem. Once again, griefing is a player made term that has different definitions to different people.

Is it a scummy move? Fo sho. Is it griefing? Appare tly accord g to Blizzard no, or they would have hot fixed this and or said something.

Its also a good idea to report the mage afk once the bg starts if you see who does it. let them know that you appreciate them screwing their team mates over.

Griefing is not a player made term.

And no amount of schemantic tap dancing is going to change the fact it is quite literally griefing.

It’s someone intentionally doing something, to prevent someone from playing the game, and in this case, you can’t even blame it on PvP, because this is same faction griefing.

It’s Griefing. Period.

Because on my alt (whom has not stepped foot in Korraks so chill people) it was fun, especially in Legion, to teleport people there. By people I mean guild mates.

You have to go out of your way to get this portal. I forget how, but it has been around forever if I recall properly.

You have to go to scarlet monastery library, kill the boss before he sets the library on fire .

Nah, but it is hilarious.

I agree it’s hilarious and has happened to me once or twice. I am just surprised such a portal exists. It’s like Blizzard is just asking players to troll each other.

If you ask the question over on CS if it is a player made term, and Vrak or Orlyia or Klax answer you they will say yes it is. That is where I got thus from. I am not just spouting things off here.

And no amount of protesting what I have said will make you correct.

If I care enough, when I am not on my phone and can search easier, I will link a reference. However, I am paraphrasing words directly from blues on the CS forum.

Griefing is a player made term that means different things to different people.

Intentionally inhibiting another players ability to play the game, in a way that isn’t PvP-related (IE corpse camping) is still against the TOS.

It’s griefing. No matter what stupid label you want to list it as, it is what it is.

This is intentionally, and maliciously, interuptting someone elses gameplay, for the sole purpose stopping someone from doing something for 30 minutes.
