Assuming what’s datamined happens I’m debating what to use for my boot rune as a frost mage.
I know brain freeze is great but spell power May be very very sexy for ice lance shatter combos adding another 50% crit dmg.
Going to have to do a lot of testing assuming I main mage in phase 2.
Brain Freeze seems excellent for PvP. I’m not quite sure though as you make a good point that Mage will crit often.
My problem with mage is hard casting. I hate it especially if you can be LoSed.
I know brain freeze adds an instant cast but to get that instant cast we most likely will have to be spamming frostbolts. Frost armor can proc brain freeze I think but still.
I personally am going to test the brain freeze route. I like the idea of having instant cast procs. Wish we had more talent point to play with so I could go deep frost with some extra to get impact/ignite. Frostfire bolt would get dumb getting benefits from both talent trees

Rank 1 frost bolt is a 1 second cast.
Spamming that to get a proc May be ok but it’s still a cast none the less. Frostbite procs on 1 sec FB are nice too.
Frostbite, fingers of frost, missile barrage, etc.
