Yes they needed a buff but a moonshot to the top both preraid and bis was completely uncalled for, did a dev reroll or something??
And we’ve been glass cannon all of SoD. Literally getting two hit by any class while also bringing nothing but AI to the raid.
Let us have something.
Mage was objectively the worst class. The squishest, the only class with a limited resource, with the worst possible damage profile and also simply lacking in damage overall. There were literally zero redeeming qualities to playing a Mage in phase 8, it was strictly the worst with no possible upsides.
Mages are supposed to be the best single target DPS. Mage won’t even be the best DPS, SP and Locks are probably still better in the raid since the raid only has three real bosses and SP/Lock are still going to be better, possibly much better, on two of those three fights while bringing utility and being more survivable. It’s just now Mage has an actual niche they bring to the table.
i dont play mage or know anything about the class in sod, is this buff really that big?
Mage is fine, if anything they still could use some buffs just not to fire now. There are so many larger issues balance-wise that I don’t think this comes close to being a concern
Pretty much exactly what Sentenza said. It’s important to remember that the sims put Fire slightly ahead of other specs for pure single-target fights now, when the reality is almost every encounter in this raid has some form of AoE present. Fire has 2pc and Frost has Forb but neither are able to keep up with boomkin/spriest/afflock when played at their best.
And that is completely okay. Mage will be excellent for priority damage and even if the encounters may favor other kits, it won’t feel like you’re just worth half as much as the other casters in your raid.
