Need advice because I want to pick only one for S2.
My main endgame will be delves and maybe a bit of LFR, so DPS numbers don’t matter.
Mage:
- All 3 specs are so fun.
- I love my Mage portals.
- They’re so squishy, and I have no idea how good tank Brann will be.
Warlock:
- Demo and Destro are great, but I honestly have more fun playing Mage because there’s so much hard casting on Warlock.
- No comment on Aff because I dislike dot specs.
- Love the utility.
- Doing delves on Warlock is chill mode, which I really really like and it would be a nice change because I plan on playing Priest too.

Tank Brann is designed for healers. He doesn’t heal himself and his damage scales on healing recieved. If you try to use him while playing dps, he does down very frequently. Trash is manageable because he’ll eat between pulls but boss fights challening elites will be a problem.
Healer Brann is likely going to stay meta for most dps.
I’d pick the Warlock. Maybe gear up the Mage later in the season once Brann is leveled more and you’ve unlocked all the curios.

Warlock given the use case scenario.
Pets help, Warlock is fun to play and both Demo/Destro is strong.

I’d say go with Warlock… demonology is one of my favorite specs in the game, I’m also not a fan of mage to begin with. Both are incredibly consistent for the most part in both PVE and PVP.

This hasn’t been my experience at all. I mean every once in a blue moon he dies but I’ve cleared T11s and he stays alive just fine the vast majority of the time.
His healing output doesn’t keep up with the damage well enough to just stand toe-to-toe with mobs lol, but he keeps himself alive just fine!

Warlock is BiS there.
For all other purposes the mage is the better choice. Completely unbiased opinion.

Warlock no question if you plan on Delving as your main activity.
I play 10 classes. Warlock has had the easiest time in there by far.

I know everyone is saying lock, and a few years ago I would agree.
But honestly I have more fun on my mage now. Just as a fun component. But if you are talking about being sexy, then warlocks all the way. Their gear is heat

Warlock has been my main forever and demo is still one of the more, if not the most, fun times I had playing an mmo. That said, go mage if you want to be one of the devs most favorite child, who’s unhealthy love drives them to eff up arcane over and over again.

Seems like the general consensus is that tank Brann is better paired with a healer (great news for my Priest) and that Warlock is still better for delves.
I already play another one of the devs’ favourite child (Paladin) so no worries there.

Mage for sure. Even for solo content, Mages are great. They are only fragile if you let the enemy get close to you, but that rarely happens since Mages have two blinks, Alter Time (which not only restores your health to what it was before being cast but also resets your blink cooldown), two freezes (one from yourself and one from the elemental pet), a Fire ability that knocks enemies back (I forgot the name), reduction of up to 60% in the enemy’s speed with Frostbolt, two Ice Blocks that drastically reduce incoming damage and allow you to recover HP, and invisibility for emergencies. I remember that when I did Delves with my Mage, I rarely took damage.
On top of that, Mages are usually meta in almost every M+ season, have the advantage of teleporting to various locations on the map, and can conjure their own food.

Warlock, always. They are the much cooler upgraded version of mages.

I think your information might be out of date.
Warlocks may not have portals but they have self healing and protection abilities, helpful demon pets and extremly strong dps specs. You may not like dotters but although I dont play it much, Afflic is a pretty good one. I like Destro a lot but Demo is also much fun.
That being said, Mage was my first class in the game (and I still play her from time to time) and when played right, they are an awesome class. (Not saying I always play it right but I know I ought to)
