Hey guys! A bit about me ive been playing off and on for a while now and the entire time I have played I have been a melee player. I wanna mix things up a bit and play ranged for once in my life even if its just for a tier. So thats why I am here! I want some opinions on which of the 2 in the title I should play? Which is easier? Which do you feel like I would get more out of? Idc what the meta toping stuff is if I play mage it will be frost or fire and if I play lock it will be aff or destro.
I feel like arcane is too hard for me atm while im learning to play a ranged dps and demo just feels really weird to play. Anyways let me know what you guys think! ty in advance!
If you’re just just looking to just try it out, I would recommend mage and probably frost. As a melee main, I’ve found mage is more forgiving of movement, and frost gameplay is fairly friendly to newcomers.
Of course, it’s all down to your preference, but that’s my two cents.
Arcane is about on par with Demo, maybe a bit harder.
Affliction is about as hard as Fire.
Destro is harder than Frost, both are pretty easy specs.
If Demo and Arcane are off the table, you’re going to get better value out of Warlock than Mage. Though that being said, Blizzard are buffing Fire by 10% basically every week so eventually it’s gunna be good again.
Well what content do you play? Historically Mages are much better than Warlocks in M+ but both classes have never been bad in either raids or PvP for any significantly period of time.
Warlock mobility is in a pretty good spot right now with the changed to our talent tree. It’s very easy to justify near 100% Burning Rush uptime with how much self-heal we have (especially as Aff) and how little damage it does.
But we don’t have immunities or stuff like mirror images. Mages are REALLY good at avoiding damage that would kill other classes, including Warlocks. But Warlocks are basically the king of “not needing a healer” among DPS, especially if you’re playing Inevitable Demise.
I mainly raid and do m+ for weekly and gear when needed. I would like to get into pvp but I dont usually have people to play with so its a bit of a deterrent
Warlock is a lot easier because you have demons that can tank for you much the way Hunter pets tank for them. Mage is a bit more tricky because you have to learn to kite your opponent which can be difficult if you are surrounded by mobs.
Awkward kinda said it all. Frost and fire have a crazy amount of survivability, same with warlocks. Mages are probably a bit easier overall, warlocks are performing slightly better right now. Biggest plus for warlocks is they don’t need to play around Rune of Power, which can feel really awful sometimes. Losing uptime to area denial sucks, dude.
