Which is better to main? Which is easier to pug m+? Like both but can’t decide!
i would say rogues for the mass stealth to skip most stuff
mage for food
Mage because you bring benefits to the table.
Can you imagine if they implement mass invisibility for mages? Put Rogues out of work for good.
Mage brings more benefits to the groups I suppose. Lust worth more than shroud you think?
with lust i think most classes can do it but with shroud you can skip some of the trash in M+
You should look into which one is going to be more fun in 9.1, not just what’s fun right now.
Mage > Rogue.
Both are solid for mythic plus but Mage is better especially if you play fire.
You can have a lot of fun with either class. Porting noobs to ancient Dalaran or sapping players just before they get on the elevator down or up
Join us, Demon hunters, we can double jump and glide!
Mage, it isn’t even close.
Rogues and mages are very close. They work together all the time
Go mage. Rogue are icky
Both are fine for M+ … easier to pug?? too vague there.
Both are fine to main, depends what spec (lol).
Mage has the portals/teleports, and range-convenience.
Rogues have other utilities but them and M+ go hand in hand.
Mage
Ranged is much easier, the devs hate melee
Ezpz
What I meant was easier to get invited into a pug.
Rogue.
Mage isn’t far behind.
Rogue here.
We are fun. Pew pew pew. Good mobility. Strong CD’s. OL is bit of RNG dependent though. My single target can be anywhere between 4k and 6.5k solely depending on what Roll The Bones I get.
Fire mage is S-tier raw damage wise. Uncapped AoE, insane burst makes it highly desirable in M+.
Frost mages are popular, but raw damage wise, they are good 20-30% weaker. I am usually somewhat on par with every frost mage I’ve seen with an exception of a few that would actually play well. I also commonly outdps frost mages, but that’s cuz they are bad.
From my experience: (off the top of my head)
Rogue burst - ~12-14k. Sustained AOE is solid 9-10k.
Fire Mage burst - ~20-25k. Sustained AOE 15-18k.
Frost Mage burst - ~15k. Sustained AOE 10-13k.
Single target boss fight
Rogue - 5.5-6k.
Fire ~5.5-6k
Frost ~ 5.5-6k
We are kinda the same.
Rogue got stealth.
Mages got portals.
But engineers got Wormhole.
Generally speaking, mage will always be picked over rogue due to raw damage.
Rogues, however, bring amazing CC chains, shroud, and tricks. and amazing survivability when needed. Hence, they are also meta. If played right, you being 3k dps can still ensure a successful run. as you can prevent 100’s of casts, soothe, stunlock, CC etc.
Mage is range. Rogue is melee. Shadowlands caters to range significantly more than melee. Range can practically ignore 9/10 affixes, while melee is affected by every single one and often need to move quite a bit around to dodge mechanics. Range just make 1 step to the side. Acrobatic Tactics talent helps a lot - 3yd extra melee range.
Rogues defensives can, practically, allow you to ignore a mechanic here and there. Cloak of Shadows is really strong, so is Evasion, but long CD’s.
I don’t know about mages, but with rogues, our CD’s go down with combo points spent. So if u pop Flurry, let’s say, right before mobs die, next pack, you won’t have AoE.
Good groups will always bring mage and rogue together. We got different strengths and weaknesses. We bring completely different things to the table. But I find rogues to be higher skill depended than mages. It is super easy to BAD rogue.
Mage hands down. It’s so much easier to get an invite as a mage than a rogue, here’s why
Mage: LUST, better damage (uncapped aoe) , RANGE, spellsteal, root, poly, ice block, alter time, shields,
Rogue: shroud (everyone has pots, sap usable to skip packs paly is not, stuns, soothe enrage, Melee which is a negative because typically there’s only 1 melee spot, potion and slice and dice conduit the only healing things you got, oh and tricks is good too
