Mage leveling

Is kinda hard?

Mobs starting to hit like mack trucks after level 10. Can’t really survive 3 mobs or more on you. Frost Nova seems to break almost immediately too so you are stuck with just kiting the mobs around with instants

But im new to mage so maybe im doing something wrong. Too warlockpilled.

This.

You’re getting hit.

You really can’t reliably multi-mob grind until you have improved Blizzard - as it slows mobs down significantly.

But essentially leveling as a Mage is all about kiting.

kings of kiting

That’s a lot of mobs!

Ensure you’re building up defence skill or they will be hitting you with crushing.

It is tough if you’re not used to it. Gotta learn how to kite and try your hardest not to take unnecessary hits.

Not anything wrong per se, but kiting is king. Also, talents that help control mobs ramp quickly. And having Blink really, really helps.

Needs the Soft, Squishy Squirrel rune to protect from damage.

Someone posted this for mages in a discord: https://streamable.com/yzhm8s

You can group AoE level with AE and regen. I think you can throw in Living Flame as well because spellfire damage counts as arcane.

Nice. Looking forward to exploring arcane tree.

Mages are by far the worst levelers from what I’ve seen. Damage is lackluster and even with perfect kiting 2 mobs = death most of the time. I couldn’t even 1v1 other npc casters from 10-13 because they would 3 shot me with fireballs doing 75-90 damage.

And for anyone who thinks it’s a kiting or skill issue, I used to do 400-450 mara pulls in classic vanilla every day. I am very aware of how to kite as a mage.

We have to be cautious. Eventually, you’ll be able to control and kite with ease, but face tanking mobs is a good way to die. Use Polymorph and Frost Nova to keep the enemies from beating on you. Rely on Frost Bolt to slow enemies down.
