Frost 1-60, or Fire 1-30 then respec for Frost?
The first 3 talents in frost gives u 6% hit chance with frost and fire which is huge while leveling.
As long as u have those 3 You can go fire spec if u want
Frost all the way imo.
-Better survivability
-Better kiting
-Good nuking potential with frostbite and shatter
-Better mana efficiency with frost talents
Fire has better instants and half the kiting that frost does due to frost being more consistent with snares and roots.

I only have a mage at 22 or so. But, unless you’re planning on aoe grinding either is great for different reasons.
Frost has some great snares and slows. Specializing makes them better.
Fire has the best burst dps in the game, imo.
My final advice is to do what you like doing. It’s more fun that way.
Ive never played a mage before now and I’m frost. It seems very predictable with the snares and roots and I like it for that reason. I should probably try fire though before I become too set in my ways.
True, but pyro can one shot mobs if it crits. Can be pretty enoyable too.
I leveled a few mages, and ive tried different specs for leveling. Fire is doable, but frost by far gives you the more comfortable and efficient leveling experience.
Also, the shatter crits feel downright satisfying
