So thank you to the devs for continuing to fine tune mage healing! I am most excited for BWL set, weapon, trinkets, etc. Once geared the class will truly begin to become more cohesive. Now is the time to get this all figured out for Classic +!
My recommendation is 25% of spirit converts into spell power for mage healers. Right now, you get the highest hps output from itemizing crit over spirit/mp5. The fights aren’t long enough to justify using the healing sets (other than getting the set bonuses and the xmog of healing MC set is way nicer as you get to be purple haha). If there was a 25% spirit to spell power conversion talent/rune…then mage healers would definitely want to be using the triple stat + spell power gear. Personally id put it deep in the arcane talent tree or make it active when all three healing runes (regen, mass regen, and chronostatic preservation) are equipped at the same time (as this would prevent dps specs from benefitting from it. In my current MC gear that would give an extra 55 spell power.
If not this stat conversion, then something needs to be added to incentivize mage healers to actually itemize the gear the devs are creating for us. Otherwise you’ll just have full dps geared mages using the occasional mage healing rune forever.
The addition of mage healer was sooooo smart by blizzard. Keep fine tuning over time for Classic +, and I’m always happy to discuss any ideas with @devs.
it’s been 30 minutes and Argentina hasn’t arrived to " " all over the thread, and make the brilliant observation that, since Mages can’t heal on the level 60 Era server, there’s no reason to make any adjustments to Mage healing on the SoD server.
uhm, i don’t think %crit benefits healing mages or did something change? Meaning you’re going to heal for say 800 regardless if your arcane blast did 1000 or crit for1600. Although from my understanding +crit does get added in direct healing spells like CSP.
wrong. the healing table has a separate crit table from the damage. So you can crit the dmg and not crit the heal…and you can crit the heal even when you dont crit the damage.
The MC Arcane healing set has spirit on it. But most mages opt for the dps set that has 6% more crit on it atm because fights are so short and this pushes damage to be faster as well.
I’m all for a spirit to spellpower boof but it would probably be more appropriate for mp5 conversion. I’ve been stacking as much spirit as I can because the drinking ticks are so brutal! Thankfully we’re getting nice buffs this phase with the mana reduction from regen, mass regen, and a slightly better water.
