Mage class is dying

Just looking at M+ log number of parses

I haven’t looked at the log but personally I haven’t set foot in an M+ dungeon at all in DF. I think it’s actually a more widespread problem. Yes, Mages are in a pretty bad state at the moment, only one viable spec and it’s got a complicated and gimmicky rotation.

But the M+ balance has also been atrocious with several bosses in as many dungeons all but PuG killers and overtuned to boot. Every week they come out with sweeping nerfs and it’s still not enough. This week alone we’re on the 3rd wave of hotfixes I believe.

Basically the entire expansion is a mess and people are losing the desire and interest to play. DF was supposed to be a breath of fresh air after the disaster that was SL but all that materialized is overcomplicated and deeply unsatisfying revamps to both talents and professions that left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.

And don’t get me started on the bugs that just don’t stop. They haven’t even fixed the ones that were introduced in the pre-patch let alone the scores more that keep popping up with every new piece of content they’ve released since.

I don’t know what’s going on at Blizzard these days but they’re clearly way in over their heads with this rushed and messy expansion release.

No! And I want to speak with your manager this instant!

Ok so maybe I didn’t have to write an essay but frankly my frustration with the lack of communication from them is beginning to boil over. At least they can admit that they’re overwhelmed with the bugs and the balance issues and tell us what they’re doing to get a handle on things.

This silence is not winning them any friends nor are people just going to forget about the bugs they’re facing every single time they log in. To say nothing of the nonexistent balance.

Nothing they said came off as Karen like. I quite enjoyed the synopsis. It was very nail on the head!

They’re completely correct about the lack of communication and the fact that our talent builds are pigeonholed and unfun. Many other players echo the same sentiment.

And the bugs/overtuned fights are objectively a thing and it’s not complaining to bring something like that up as a part of a conversation in relation to why a certain class might be “dying” as OP titled.

It seems only the very best players now can grasp the tight rotational intricacies of Arcane spec while also avoiding damage and “swirlies” on heavy movement fights. Melee this expansion have no such issues like ranged casters now (I’m sure they have other issues I might be unaware of). Additionally, Mage defensives are lesser than many other classes owing to the difficulty staying alive during said fights.
