Mage changes coming next patch

I was concerned about that as well, but reading the blue post it seems they are aware of that potential problem. While ROP is going and we are getting a baseline buff, it seems they’re also willing to buff/change the main cooldown of all 3 specs which is nice. My main concern there is that IF still exists, so in addition to a 15% baseline buff we are also getting a talent that is a passive 12% baseline buff? Just seems strange to me that we would still have to spend a point on a mandatory talent to do what an aura buff could.

To be fair, ROP only really became a massive problem in BfA and SL. In Mists you could take Incanter’s Ward and not lose much (rop was also only 10-15%), WoD you could take Invocation, and Legion had IF not that far behind.

It sounds weird but could be helpful. Not sure it deserves to be a capstone though. With the talents to reduce IB cooldown now at 60s (or was it 60s each? I can’t find the notes now) having a 70% reduction on a 2 minute cooldown is pretty strong. They also seem to be moving away from being able to ignore mechanics in Mythic through immunities, so this might see a lot more play than you think.

What has me most excited though is that they’re looking at potential changes for Fire AoE (maybe no more skb/pyro builds for M+ which is an absolute win) and big changes for Frost to open up some other builds that aren’t focused on IV uptime. I’m hoping there’s something added to give Frost some 2-7 target AoE, like Frost Bomb.
