Mage Arcane Explosion Healing

What is the intended value for the self healing from this at level 25? The nerf was allegedly implemented 2 days ago and yet roughly an hour ago today after messing around with my runes I noticed I was healing 5hp on myself per hit from arcane explosion. I am unsure if I am bugged in some way or this is the intended value, all I know is I was healing roughly 4x up until just recently, long after the healing nerf was implemented to my knowledge. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

That tooltip existed before I noticed the change in-game. But you’re saying it was just recently implemented and not when the post was made referencing it?

The changes were implemented sometime between 5am PST and 3pm PST, because I was online farming stuff. at minimum 16 hp while halved, and now it’s… 5hp?
Like, they can keep the 80% nerf on AE if they just remove the “reduced by half on self” cause it was chunking people up in dungeon runs, and now solo world content is suffering. like m a n.

Does this mean it’s healing others for 10hp?? Lol… If so, that’s pathetic.

It’s a shame there’s no positive changes to go with it. Arcane Mage healers are F tier in group PvP even if mages are generally strong 1v1. Spell pushback devastates AM, Regen and AB. Your actual direct healing is trash so you have to get off big damage casts to do meaningful healing. You’re also open to an interrupt in your healing, damage and primary utility tree basically all the time. Mana costs are absurd because they’re balanced around beacon burst healing several targets at once in raids.

Not a well designed healer at all. Very disappointing. AoE and living flame was their one trick that made them good outside of I assume their ability to do beacon burst windows in raids. Without it they’re just below average everywhere else.

In PvE outside of broken now nerfed AOE healing, your single target healing is all expensive outside of no charge AB, but the cheapest spell to dump charges is 85 mana I think. Fishing for conc procs with rank 1s isn’t reliable and you can’t use the procs on the expensive healing spells. You also have no meaningful burst or life saving healing in an emergency outside of rewind after AoE is nerfed. Rewind also has requirements to be useful that are probably hard countered in PvP by offensive dispels and in PvE you’re giving up your only cheap arcane damage (AB) for it.

Resists also are terrible and an even bigger waste of mana than they already would have been given you’re losing beacon time as well now.

Also I have nearly 2k mana already and our water at that level restores an entire 800 something in 20 some seconds :roll_eyes:

My from early experience in mage pvp, even our “1v1 strength” is F-tier at lvl 25. No ice block, no ice barrier, gets 2shot, and other classes can dish out more damage right now than us.

Things will certainly get better at lvl 40 pvp. But this was expected, since “lvl 19/29 twinking” was never that strong for mage like it was for physical damage dealers like hunter, rogue, warrior, pally. Mages will feel F-tier now, but should become strong again in phase 2 or 3.
