Magatha had a rather vehement interest in the Doomstone to the point of joining the Earthen Ring to keep it out of the Legion’s hands and advocated for its use against the wishes of the Elemental Lords. She further vowed to keep an eye on the artifact and remained close by it at the Maelstrom. And then nothing…she’s not there when the Maelstrom is under attack and it’s Nobundo who secured the Doomstone, per the Maelstrom quests from Magni.
If she’s not at the Maelstrom it means she’s elsewhere and plotting. If she abandoned or even put her quest for the Doomstone on pause, then its likely she’s another one who turned towards Azerite. And that raises questions on where is and what she’s planning and who she join with in her quests for the Doomstone.
After all she desires it and the fact they mentioned it and had an azerite eruption near just raises the possibility of the Doomstone being combined with Azerite. And with how things are going I can’t help but wonder if Magatha will join with N’Zoth in order to obtain the artifact. Plus is she does it gives a well known name to raid where N’Zoth is the final boss.
Alternately with the way things have been going in Sylvanas’s favor I can’t help but wonder if I was too quick to be dismissive of Magatha and Sylvanas working together when it was suggested a while ago.
It wasnt part of the story blizz wanted to tell so it will never come up again

I’m still salty my Shaman was forced to take her as a follower instead of smashin’ her skull in with the Doomhammer.

I mean, if she was dead then she would have been even less of a liability. Also, I think it deserves repeating…

At first, I completely agreed.
In Legion I had a little used Dwarf Shaman Alt. I was livid and disgusted at the prospect of dealing with her. Cairne is just the Bee’s Knees.
But as I worked with her, I developed an … appreciation for the methods she employs to accomplish her goals.
As much as I detested her - her joke about Shaman making portals made me laugh. She’s just like: “B plz”.
At this point… If Blizzard decided to break the racial barriers, and created 2 new Factions based on one being “Dark” and the other being “Purely Benevolent” , I think she would be a good leader for the Tauren who choose the “Dark” path.
If Sylvanas really does come for Thunder Bluff, who would be better to lead that than Magatha who has always wanted dominance over all the Tauren?
This. Also the person that wrote those quests no longer works on WoW would be my other expectation.
Magatha is a great villain, shame that don’t have an idea what to do with her.
