So it seems to me that lightning and chain lightning arent lighting up anymore when they are instant cast from maelstrom weapon, this is much harder to track. anyone know how to fix this?
I know that they have a new “assistance” feature which is blue, but is there any way to revert to the old “glowing” when it’s time to cast a spell?
Seems to work just as it used to with other spells, just not lightning/chain lightning.
You can set up the in-game cooldown manager to easily track maelstrom stacks and move it or size it however you like.
The cooldown manager was bad at first, but it has come a long way. I think it gave people a bad taste at first and now they’re hesitant to give it a chance.
I do miss the glowy spenders but I ended up using the cooldown manager and made the icons bigger to track maelstrom. Works probably a little better than before because now I know exactly how many stacks I have
gotcha, thank you for the responses everyone. I am kinda getting used to tracking it with the little HUD in the middle, just takes getting used to. im not an addon guy at all lol
This is one of the main reasons I do not play enhance any longer.. They did this with a few other spells in the game as well. If something has a cast time and then due to a proc or reaching the minimum amount of resource that cast becomes instant, the button should definitly light up for you let you know.
Do not let the try hards make you think you are a bad player for wanting or missing this.
I can sense the undertones of elitism above.
The solution they could implement would be to light it up when its instant cast and then you can visually track how much of the maelstrom you would like to sepnd after that.
or
Let LB and CL not be castable at all until there is at least 5 stacks.
Similar to what they did for Hand of Guldan for Demo Warlocks.
Think you are projecting or something. Nobody above was being elitist. Nobody said the guy was a bad player for wanting this. You’re making stuff up.
The reason they removed it was because enhance had a lot of procs that would glow, and enhance also had different ways of spending MSW. For example, sometimes you’d want to spend at 5 or sometimes you’d wait and generate more and then spend, so having it glow at 5 made some players or new players think they -had- to press that button which is another reason they listed for not having the glow anymore.
There are a few different solutions to this though:
-They can make our spenders glow at 10 stacks of Maelstrom Weapon letting you know that you’re at max stacks
-You can use the in game Cooldown/buff tracker to track stacks. Its actually not bad, doesn’t glow but it does have an icon and stack count.
-You can use an addon called Maelstrom Weapon Resource Bar. This is what I use. I got rid of the bar and only use the text though. I made the text large and put it right under my character so I can see exactly what number of stacks I have at all times.
I use both the HUD tracker and the in game buff tracker. It took some getting use to, but after a couple hours on the dummies and doing the rares in twilight highlands it feels fine now.
That’s what I’ve been doing. Just tracking the MSW buff in CD manager. Except I use ARC UI so I can modify the stack size/text to make the stack number a lot more prominent. Default stack size on my laptop is too small.
Patch notes for tomorrow say that surging currents gives you a charge each time we cast Tempest. Does that mean we now consume one stack of surging currents each time we cast healing surge to buff it by 16% instead of consuming them all at once for one big heal? If so, how many stacks can we accumulate?
It sounds like you can choose to spend or accumulate surging current charges, which should mean up to 5 charges based on the 80% cap the tooltip states.
Okay, the Surging Currents talent does create a 16% buff “charge” to healing surge each time you use a tempest. I wasn’t paying close attention to how long they last-maybe 25 sec-but the timer resets every time you get a new one. It takes a good while to get to 5 stacks and my healing surges went from about a 20-24k heal to about 40-44k with 5 stacks. Basically, if you aren’t healing every time you use a 10 maelstrom spender, eventually when you do need to heal it will be a little bigger-not really a game changer imo since we’re healing a lot to stay alive in PVP and likely won’t be trying to build up stacks.
As far as I can tell it changed nothing and works the exact same way it did before, they just changed the wording from stacking to charges for some reason.
Prior to this change: When you used Tempest, you gained a stack of Surging Currents. If you then used Healing Surge that stack would be consumed. If you did not use Healing Surge before using another Tempest, it would stack to 2, and then stack to 3 if you used another Tempest, etc. It would stack to 5 if you pressed 5 Tempests before ever pressing Healing Surge. If you have 3 stacks, all 3 get consumed from 1 Healing Surge. Same for if you have 5.
With this change: Exact same thing. You press Tempest, you gain a stack of Surging Currents, if you press Healing Surge it gets consumed. If you do not press Healing Surge and instead use another Tempest, it stacks to 2 and so on. If you have 3 stacks, all 3 get consumed from 1 Healing surge. Same for if you have 5.
Do we want to play MSW icon with a small white text? Pretty much no one want to play that, so we all download addon for MSW resource bar. MSW resource bar addon make game become much playable for every enh shaman (both main and alt)
This does not help knowing when the spell is ready for instant cast.. I guess its a somewhat ineligant solution but I am not clicking a button that is not lit up for no reason.
Anyway, sadly it looks like the shaman is going on the shelf this xpac
