Madseason quitting wow

Actually if you listen and read between the lines, he’s saying he doesn’t want people to be able to buy boosts or skips because he thinks it’s not fair for those who don’t.

But people should be able to buy whatever they want with their money and by not allowing that as an option for people who say, don’t have enough time to grind due to having a life and responsibilities, a skip is perfect for them.

Him not wanting that option is basically saying they shouldn’t be playing.

Him wanting people to have to obtain things the same way he did is telling people how they should play.

Both are forms of gate keeping.

I like Madseason quite a bit, but what I’ve learned over the past year is that almost ALL opinions about WoW that you see here and in the comment section of the videos that contribute to this are because of the Youtube algorithm. There is a cottage industry that is not at all dissimilar to reactionary political videos, where people just get sucked into an endless black-hole of “WoW sucks” uploads, until holding these opinions and defending/advocating for them becomes more enjoyable to the viewers than the game itself. In this case, it isn’t loot or leveling up that is causing the dopamine rush, it’s keeping themselves constantly angry.

Blizzard certainly does. Many of their largest personalities that freely advertise their game have already left.

They don’t care at all lol

I think the point he was making is that the fact that you are able to buy things like that takes away from the sense of accomplishment and esteem that used to come from games like this.

Right, that’s P2W, buying power. WoW’s system is not P2W by the strict definition, but they are flying pretty close to the sun.

Buying stuff, isn’t “playing” though, so you are very much reaching.

I don’t agree with him. I think level boosts are just, meh. I’m conditioned to not care. The mounts I think are insulting.

The boosting raids/pvp has gotten extremely pervasive. I don’t particularly care, since I’ve been on both ends of that spectrum, but it shouldn’t be allowed in LFG tool.

Then again LFG tool needs a ton of work. Maybe even make a seperate category for boosting, whatever, but the tool really sucks… so if half of the groups are boost groups, it just makes it that much harder to find one.

TL;DR though, at no point is he talking about how to “play” the game.

I absolutely agree, I should be able to buy world first mythic raiding spot and mythic loot the same day the patch launches for $25 per slot.

This game is all about fun and people forgot that. Who cares about people who enjoy working toward goals. If I have the funds and desire to do so why can’t I buy myself into world first contention? (The world first players already do this with tokens and BoEs).

i was interested until i read that mess lol.

WoW has a lot of mess going against it, P2W ain’t one of em, chief.

If you read between the lines. In other words, you didn’t watch the video because at no point do they advertise that opinion.

There’s no gatekeeping. Just one person’s opinion and justification on why they are quitting and moving on. But keep trolling and building a strawman, I’m sure you’ll stir someone into a frenzy.

You’re clueless if you think that. In fact. I think you’re Blizzard’s target audience!

I’m not convinced those fans actually play the games other than to wreck havoc on servers.

There are millions who play and without the digital messiah

The more the merrier imo.

Hopefully, it’ll eventually wake blizz up to how just how many people take issue with the state of the game.

Yeah, FFXIV and Genshin is constantly above WOW on twitch now.

I could break this down for you but I’m not sure you have the brain cells to understand it fully.

Thanks for proving my point. I’m glad you find satisfaction trolling the general forums all day, I mean what else is there to do in 9.1 at this point, right?

See, I doubt it.
They have the internal metrics, we don’t.
They know exactly how much engagement people are having in the game, we don’t.
They have all of the data and just based on their behavior over the last five years, they know more are interested in these things than those that are not.

Not trolling at all. We watched the same video and had two different interpretations.

People were saying this when token launched. Not sure what changed the masses attention to it recently. Anyone with any experience in other MMOs knew this was coming from a mile away. Those with experience just in WoW should have also known.

I still think the Token was brilliant, personally. It’s not like people weren’t buying gold before the token.

I think it just needed more gold sinks and it did incentivize people to work harder on making more gold in the economy.

This thread is a conversation between two different types of gamers who aren’t ever going to agree on the topic. There are plenty of mobile games where people can spend real money on fake pixels, there are fewer and fewer old school games where you actually have to earn the stuff yourself, and that earning fake pixels was fun for a lot of us.

I still only use my Mechagone motorcycle because I had to do that whole Mecha-Done achievement to earn it and I have a lot of memories from doing so, and things like that are what I enjoy about games. If I just swiped a card to buy it off the cash shop, I wouldn’t have any sense of accomplishment and so the mount wouldn’t mean anything to me outside of being cute.

Orrrrr you just don’t understand the philosophical design concept of an MMORPG, but you feel smart on the forums so you come here and say he’s crying and gate keeping. Gotcha.
