Macro to toggle Zoom Distance

Yes, I know the zoom-out max distance macro; that isn’t what I’m asking for. I want to make a macro that automatically toggles my screen view to zoom in at a specified distance.

So if I’m in a building I use the macro to set my distance closer to my character. And if I’m in wide-open spaces (say Silithus or AV), I press another macro to set my screen view to max zoom out distance.

I want to do this without having to manually spam click the native zoom-in, zoom-out keybinds in WoW Classic, as it takes too long. What do?

Use the scroll wheel on your mouse.

there are scripts that change MAX camera distance, so technically you could zoom in slightly by making a macro to reduce your max zoom, but nothing that I know of zooms you out. it’d ALLOW you to zoom out but you’d still have to zoom yourself there.

I don’t believe there’s a simple macro to set the specific camera distance, but I think there’s scripting to do it. However, I couldn’t give the specific command, or whether it works outside of secure calls.

I had to double check by logging in and it does exist in TBC, but have you tried using the Set View # keybinds to jump to a specific view that you’ve pre-configured?

Key Bindings → Camera

Figured out set view / save view settings after I posted this, but this is definitely the answer to my question. It exists in Classic / TBC and is quite the life saver when I need a far more zoomed-in view. Thank you!

I wanted to get a macro specifically because I just wanted to see the script revolving around setting up specific zoomed views.

So, maybe post the macro?

No macro. Part of the game’s key bindings by default.

Glad you got your solution
