Macro to Loot for people with a disability

Hi I am a returning player. I have arthritis in my hands which causes me pain if I overuse my mouse or press to many buttons. I currently play with two styluses so I don’t have to use my hands to press buttons on my keyboard. I use one stylus for spells and the other for movement. Its a little awkward but it allows me to play the game which I enjoy.

The problem is having to constantly use mouse to loot corpses or interact with quest givers. After a couple of hours my hands start to get really sore.

I am hoping there is some way around this such as macros so I can button press instead of using my mouse. I tried using a controller to play the game but I found it frustrating to do so.

I want to keep playing the game but its not worth it if its causing me pain.

Any advise would be appreciated.

In keybindings under the targeting section, there are options for “Interact with Mouseover” and “Interact with Target.” Those will let you set a keybind that will basically mimic the mouse click action. You still need to get the cursor over what you want to interact with, but at least it will let you offload the actual clicking to another key.

Thank You. “Interact with Mouseover” is very useful. I have been trying it out now. I notice I can use it to target and speak to a quest giver. But when I when I put my mouse over a quest and use “Interact with Mouseover” to accept it nothing happens. It also won’t let me select individual quests if their are a number of them.

Am i doing something wrong?

Unfortunately, the interact with mouseover option is just for things out in the world (not parts of the UI like the quest dialog.)

There are macro scripting solutions for interacting with most quest options on NPCs, but that’s not something I’m very good with. (Regular macros I can do, scripting stuff — not so much.) So, I’d recommend posting in the UI and macro forum where people who are good at that stuff can help.

There are also some addons that will automate picking up/turning in quests, so that’s another option to look into. So, something like QuickQuest might work. (I’m sure there are others out there, that’s just what came up for me in a search.)

Thanks for your help. I found an add-on on curseforge called AutoTurnin that does this.

Auto Loot is one of those options that most MMOs should just have.

For about $40 you can get a 3-pedal footswitch. I had a stroke-victim GF for a while who was (and remains) an avid WoW player. The ones sold on Amazon can be set up to mimic almost anything including a mouse click (with three pedals you can do right, left, center and use it for movement and NPC interaction as well).

If you’re having that much difficulty, I’d strongly recommend this option.

This is the one I got for her:

I own no stock in and have fiduciary relationship with either the vendor or the manufacturer of this device. It’s just one that I know will do the job for a reasonable price.

Thanks that looks brilliant. Going to buy one.

A lot of new players need something other than a standard mouse and keyboard and often come here for advice.

Let us know how it eventually works out for you so others may benefit from your experience.
